Correct. Cutting out the motor which HDD's rely on allows SSD's to use just a few watts at most as opposed to about 10-30 on mechanical drives. The only advantages HDD's have are cost and mass storage (the largest SATA SSD is a 2TB from Samsung whereas consumer HDD"s can go all the way up to 6 or 8 ).

That's about what it looks like in Demul, which is very impressive in my opinion. I've been using it so much lately for my Shenmue: The Movie project that I forgot what Shenmue looks like on the Dreamcast. I pulled it out the other day to test the "new" CRT I just got, and now I don't know if I can go back (from Demul).

After weeks of struggling with various recording programs and settings, I finally found a combination that I'm happy with, and as of today I've finished disc 1. I expect the next two to take 2-3 weeks, so before April is over I should be into the editing part of the project.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an idea which I'd like to poll you guys again for. Once I'm finished with the whole thing, but before I put it on YouTube and etc, I'd like to have a live premiere and stream the movie all the way through. What I'd like to know is if anyone would actually watch it.

Yesterday I banished Chai to the depths of Yokosuka Bay, thus marking the end of project's recording workload. Unfortunately, I still can't give a solid estimate on date of completion or the final product's run time, but I don't think I'll finish before May. If I reach completion ahead of schedule, I'll likely make another trailer, this time with the real footage of course. As always if you have any ideas or recommendations, please let me know.

As for a VGA box, I've been very satisfied with the $25 one I bought from Retro-Bit. Unfortunately, it's not in stock on Amazon anymore and it's $60-70 on eBay. I swear I got mine for $25 back in July.

I can make a .flac or .wav of it using my Shenmue: The Movie Remastered footage. I've been recording at 48kHz and 320kb/s, so there shouldn't be any quality issues. I'll post it by tomorrow.

Actually, you can learn scroll moves without reading the scroll. Just go into practice and do the move; you'll get a "X has been mastered" message along with the iconic sound effect. It's no different from mastering moves like Dark Moon or Brutal Tiger, which can't be learned from a scroll or tutor.

From the outside, it seems like the vastly more logical option is to leave the EU, especially if Turkey is allowed in.

Fear not, for I have been hard at work for the past month and a half, and am finally finished! The official run time is 4:50:11 (4 hours, 50 minutes, 11 seconds), and the file is 28.4GB in size. As you can see in the image above, it took over 8 hours to render, even with my graphics card doing so. It's going to take an eternity to upload, but I should have it on YouTube by June 2nd in preparation for the 3rd of the month Tweetathon. I would greatly appreciate it if others would include a link to the video in their tweets that day.

I'll update the OP once I've finished uploading, but the video will remain private or unlisted until the 3rd. I plan on uploading a 4:3 version for people who don't like the 16:9 pop-ins, but I don't think I'll be done with that for at least a couple of weeks.

"So when's II coming out?" At the moment, I can't start on II because there's simply too many texture glitches. Hopefully, the next version of Demul will allow the increasing of the internal resolution like the build I used for this project. If that's the case, and it fixes most/all of the bugs, I will begin work on Shenmue II: The Movie, and the story will go on.

Well guys I have great news. I am finally feeling well enough to start my new stage hand job here in Atlanta! I will be working the biggest venues and shows in the city, building the stages and environment for each show, and doing production where needed. Plus there is always the oh so very fun unique behind scenes stuff my eyes will get to take in that makes the magic of concerts and stage productions rock the faces of 20,000 person arenas! I am so beyond stoked to finally be able to do this again, my first show is R Kelly next saturday, im so happy and humbled to be back in the entertainment industry! :D

If this VGA to HDMI adapter you bought is only an adapter, and not an upscaler, then unfortunately it's not going to fix your 480p problem. It's simply outputting 480p over HDMI instead of VGA.

I can see it now! After a week of investigating, Fuku-san learns that he may be able to find information on Chinese criminals at the Heart Beats Bar. On his way there, he has to walk through an alley and runs into two large, drunk guys that look like sailors. As he attempts to go around the first one, he's intentionally blocked by the man. "Go home!" yells the seaman. Fuku-san shifts his weight, clenches his fists, looks the man in the eye, and replies, "okay," before turning around and heading back to the dojo. He needed a few more years to practice his Pit Blow anyway.

With graphics cards, you have reference PCB's (printed circuit board) and custom PCB's. Most reference cards use the the reference cooler designed by AMD/NVIDIA, but some cards with custom coolers use the reference PCB. A custom PCB will always have the exact same GPU on it, but can differ in terms of how many RAM IC's, VRM's (voltage regulating module), 6/8 pin connectors, etc. it has onboard, and who manufactured each of those components. For example, when I got my 290X in 2013, people were trying to figure out which makers used Hynix RAM so that they could avoid the supposedly weaker Elpida IC's. The main reason for custom cards is to take advantage of more robust and reliable power delivery for better overclocking. Thanfully, "low end" graphics cards aren't really gimped in terms of VRM's like motherboards are.
