Tbh Axm, I'm with Bluecast and Dorian on this one. They're pretty blatant examples of the average consumer, and therefore must be correct.

No you're not getting it Axm. 5 years Sony can't just add 4k hardware like it's not a problem. They would have to re work everything,new GPU new CPU basically a brand new console. Also no games would even support it even in 5 years. Developers already losing money on current gen 720P games. Even in 5 years it would be too costly for consumers,for Sony,for developers. We won;t see it take off in anything until the cost is brought under 1000$ tv stations start airing it. PC games use it. PC monitors are 250$ or less that are 4k. TV's are under 1000$. That won;t be for 10 years and won;t even be mainstream for at least another 5 after that. in 5 years a PS4 with 4k well most people won;t even have the TV to support it. It's fucking retarded.

I have a CRT as well. I am getting a new one this year. maybe this month. Not decided yet but yeah. Playing HD games on SD TV's is hell. However If you do plan to get next gen systems. Might want to save up. I'm willing to bet they drop AV support as LED tv's have and just go HDMI only.

Well I honestly see everyones point on this that it will take along time to develop, rework and actually have people buy it. I get that completely. Im just a very open minded person naturally and in my industry, where I work, things seem to change and advance quite rapidly and consumer demand remains high and continues to grow. So in my view and experience it makes sense that eventually 4k will be a reality and people will actually buy it. We can debate the years on when this could happen but what I do know is that as technology gets better and games continue to try and be more realistic, 4k is certainly a possibility.

Obviously, it will be. It's just not possible to make 4K consoles now and in the next few years because nobody is prepared for that. CDs existed in the 80s, but it took over a decade to make them practical in the console use. The next generation needs to make 1080p a standard. 4K is just silly.
