Didn't you once do this on your phone ages ago, getting about 25 mb/s? I remember it 'cos I remember thinking to myself exactly what you just posted above, since it was faster than pretty much all of the connections of the UK members here, and it was literally 20x faster than what I got through the land-line of the place I stayed at that time. ;-)

Ya my phone is faster then my home cable internet.
Also my cable internet at my last place was much better, like always atleast 10mb/s but now ive moved out of there and this new place gives me like tops 4mb/s but average 2mb/s. Sucks.
Cant wait to get to Japan though and have much better.

Yeah, cable is only really becoming standard here now, the Virgin cable I used to have was pretty sweet though. "Only" 10mb/s, but was always at that, and never once had to switch the router off and on again!

I imagine that mobile 4G signals are already standard across Japan and pretty much everyone uses it?

There's gotta be countries out there whose military doesn't have connections that fast. I'd ask what you're paying for that every month but surely you must work for google and just tested your speed on the job.

I think areas that have fibre optic installed can theoretically get speeds of up to 1gb. I've only seen 100mb plans advertised though.

On my mac mini

on my laptop i got over the holidays

I dont get it, all of these were on the same network in the same room. The macs networking are light years ahead of my windows stuff, even my PC when it had internet, I saw it get to 12 megs one time but usually it was between 2-5 megs. Sure the router is on the top floor of my house and my room is in the basement, but it still doesnt make sense. Im stumped, does my router need to be re-configured or something? Do i just need a new router? I think it would help some what if we were able to put the router in the middle floor of my house but it just still doesnt make sense...
