Yes, you can see him sipping his drink next to Akemi-san. Unfortunately,
you can't talk to him or anything.

Anyway, welcome to the Dojo, AlgeRyo! :)

A couple of Japanese guidebooks hint this, though details are not mentioned.
It's a common knowledge among Japanese fans, being talked about everywhere,
including the official Shenmue BBS. ;)

But what's this fleeing all about? Why does he run away from ryo?

He's pretending to make sushi. We don't know why he runs away.
Ryo just asks "you're Mr. Yukawa, aren't you?"
And he says either "it can't be!" or "oh, shoot!" and runs away. :D

hahaha, although i've seen similar scenes before in 'whats shenmue', that man never stops being funny . . .

I've done this on the PAL version, Mr Yukawa just legs it.

However I am wondering, as he Ryo speaks to him on the Japanese version, does anyone know if there is any talking on the US Shenmue version? And when I say US Shenmue, I mean this one...

No, he wouldn't speak in "US Shenmue," as it doesn't contain Japanese voices.

No, Ryo doesn't speak to him, either. Yukawa will run away silently, when you hit
"A" button. It's exactly like the scene in this video of LanDC.

Ok thanks Kiyuu. I was just wondering because I heard 'US Shenmue' was an English version, of the Japanese game. I thought all Japanese features remained, like Coca Cola in the machines, and maybe the Japanese version of the Mr Yukawa feature.

Thanks for the info.

The contents of "US Shenmue" is basically the same as the US version, except for
having Japanese subtitles and notebook fill-ins additionally.
