The shrine was exactly where it was in-game, just obviously much bigger IRL. The side street in one of the later images was the side street by the small park. Before even going down the street I called the park being there and voila. You can tell certain streets were used as inspiration if not directly converted like the main strip. Definitely changed a bit over the years, along with the games scale obviously altering things. But some things are still spot on.

awesome pics yama, thanks for sharing :D

Here are videos I found from some guy who recently went to Yokoska
I like the beginning of the video it reminds me Sakuragaoka 1:23 reminds me a little about the store there.

Yokoska is nice if you are a shenmue fan but if not it is a very boring place especially for a Japanese lol.
It is the type of place that you would only visit for 1 day.

Do you guys think these locations are still worth visiting? I will be in Osaka/Tokyo in about 3 weeks and was considering taking a day trip to these areas if possible. However, if things have changed too much in recent years, I do not know if it would be worth it.

They'd obviously be nothing like you'd expect, but I still think it would be interesting to visit.

Yeah I just looked up train tickets and it would only be about an hour away from Tokyo for about 2100 yen round trip. I think I will check it out. I found Dobuita street, but not the other areas.
