Allah is the Arabic word for God (literally "the God", as the initial "Al-" is the definite article).

"the god" in arabic is al-ilah, but it has a plural form (al-aliha),and one of most important concepts of islam is the oneness of god so allah is used instead, and the double L gives it a tone of exaggeration like mahmood--> mohammad..
