My shenmue game skipping scenes?

I recently finished Shenmue and suggested to my brother that he play it.He made it too disc 3 and he Just finished the part where the old hobo taught him shadow step and he learned a move from gui zang.Then on the next day in the game he did the regular scheduled forklift mission but it keeps happening and he can't progress.Everyday they keep making him do warehouse 3 the mad angels never confront him on the job nozomi never shows up for a picture and the scene where mark discusses his missing brother just won't happen.I played through the game and beat it with no problems i dont understand why it won't let him progress does anyone know why?I own the actually game but i had to burn disc 3 because my disc 3 wont work on my dreamcast.

there's a bug around that part of the game where if you take the wrong route with the forklift a cutscene doesn't happen and you can't finish the game because you can no longer get it. that might be the reason or you're just overlooking something that you're supposed to do after work

Try following the route on the map exactly the way Mark draws it up. It happened to me on my first play through.. I thought the game was making me work until i had enough money for my Hong Kong ticket Anyway, head into the warehouse from the other side and a cutscene should occur.

Shozo Mizuki is correct! your problem happened to me on my first play through. follow the route and the scene occurs between 3:30pm and 4:59pm (as long as you follow the exact route). if you miss this scene nothing happens and you have to repeat the day til u get it right. nozomi asks for the pic the following day on lunch break

Never had this happen. To think all this time I thought Shenmue was pretty good on not having bugs

This happened to me on one of my play throughs as well. I could remember there needing to be a cutscene occur (I think it's where you get attacked in one of the warehouses?) but it just wouldn't happen. i was running around for 4 in game days after work before i caved and had to google the issue.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone my brother and i figured it out last night and he beat the game. Like you guys said he had to take a different route when delivering.

no problem! Yeah this part was the reason I put shenmue down for a few weeks on my first time through. Glad to hear there are other rebels out there who didn't follow marks directions

I forgot there is another bug in Shenmue that you can recreate but have to look for it to do. I re-created it like a year or so ago after someone else discovered it. Standing in a certain spot then wait til nightfall and you are walking about 20 feet high in the air around Yamanose.

Not had the bug but know people used to abuse it to get loads of money for Shenmue II....that worked out well for them
