I've written about what that famous quirky phrase "Especially since you bought merchandise" originally says in the Japanese version of Shenmue, and why it ended up as it did through the process of translating into English.

"And you especially bought merchandise..." is probably the smallest tweak you could make that would improve clarity.

Switch, could you also explain the Abe store lady's phrase when you lose at the raffle "you should have come yesterday." i'm sure something got lost in translation here too, because the majority of the time i did buy a ticket yesterday, and still lost!

Haha, yes it sounds like a prime lost-in-translation candidate! I'll check it out
