Sega has had more than two years to get off their rear, remove the firmly placed stick and announce an HD Collection of the first two games. Remasters have been proven by numerous developers/publishers to be very successful and cost productive. Shenmue 3's success on Kickstarter proved the fan base is willing to put their money where their mouth is. Still we have seen nothing but rumors circulating and nothing directly from Sega; not at E3, not at TGS, nor the last PSX.
Thus, my hopes for an HD remaster of the first two games have significantly dwindled. I feel that this PSX is our last hope for hearing anything from Sega and/or Sony about these games being released. That means that come December 8th at Sony's PSX Keynote (starts at 8:00pm PST) is the last hope for the Shenmue HD Collection to be announced without it being some lame obscure side announcement that the masses will ignore.
Playstation blog has stated:
Though PlayStation’s biggest 2017 announcements were revealed at E3 and Paris Games Week, we’ve saved a few stocking stuffers for Friday night.
Which gives me a nugget of hope that Shenmue HD Collection is one of those stocking stuffers.
