Yeah, I know what you're getting at. Also they say in their FAQs the sound on the special color editions might be a bit worse so if you're all about audio quality, you'd best get the regular black vinyl version.

Anyway I would only be buying this to listen to Shenmue on vinyl, not to get better quality than the CD version. That kind of thing, you know.

Plus it would be really great to have that Shenmue cover in a size as big as this! You could actually frame one of these and put it up on the wall.

BlueMue wrote: Mine arrived today. The covers have a nice printing quality and they look great and really impressive because of their size, especially compared to the game cover. Unfortunately they don't have any kind of hint on them what version is inside (black, blue, translucent), not even a production number or anything. I find that a bit lame because I'll probably never gonna know wich on is wich as I don't intend to open them since I don't have a record player anyway.

I still doubt that the vinyls sound better then the CDs. First of all the CDs were already incredibly well mastered and sounding and vinyls simply cannot deliver the dynamic range and SNR that a CD has, wich is important for this type of music. The remastering of the vinyls was probably really just to make the tracks play well on a record player.
Of course I haven't heard them so don't take this as a solid verdict.

Don't underestimate vinyls sound superiority over cd quality.

I know a lot of audiophils prefer vinyl. It's really just a matter of the taste in sound as the technology isn't superior in any measureable way.

Data Disc just mailed out that they are going to do represses of the SoR and Shenmue vinyls soon.
Might be worth checking out for those who missed the original pressing. They also announced a Super Hang-On vinyl.

Just finally got this.

Good quality vinyl in my opinion. Love it! I don't have a good enough sound system to get technical, but I'm happy!

Also, pretty sure it's back in stock for anyone interested! I got it through Amoeba music. $29 with free shipping, I think it's back on data discs website as well.

I get this today.
In fact, I don't have any device can play Vinyl, but a friend of mine will record it in 24bit 192khz PCM files with a really awesome system:
A high performance vinyl turntable and phono amplifier, adjusted by an audio precision 2722 audio analyzer, the SNR (Signal-to-noise ratio) is 60+ dB! The SNR of ordinary vinyl systems is usually 30+dB.
And the ADC is prismsound ada8xr, a legendary hiend audio ADDA, using in many world-class recording/mastering studios.

This should be the best way to play it for me. I'm just wondering if there is anyone want get a copy of the digital record file?

I'd be interested! I bought the vinyl and only played it once via usb turn table ;) and as you can imagine, It didn't sound great. I mainly bought it to add to my collection, but have since framed it and will be putting it up on my wall some time later this week. I'll post the pics here once I do it.
