If Shenmue III ended up on Kickstater, would you contribute?

Hypothetically speaking, let's say Yu Suzuki started a Kickstarter fund to buy the intellectual property rights from Sega with the express purpose of developing Shenmue III. How much, if any, money would you contribute?

Personally, I'd throw in about $100-$150, maybe more if there rewards like special editions or autographed copies for a higher donation, or if I decided I wanted extra copies to collect.

Note: this isn't a thread about whether it will/won't happen, it's what you would do if it happened and why.

Honestly no I don't think I would. I'd rather spend what little money I have on a product that has already been made with no questions about if it will be made even with my donation.

It all depends on who is developing it, and whether or not they have Segas backing. If all checks out then absolutely fucking hell yes. I would pump all, my money money into the highest tier with no questions asked because i would have full faith that it would hit its target.

That's what happens when you arbitrarily set a goal without managing your proposed budget first. That or they didn't think renting a skyscraper with an outdoor pool filled with blow and hookers would cost THAT much.

Yeah. A Kickstarter project is an investment and investments always contain a certain level of risk. Just because they get the money doesn't mean they know how to properly budget or manage it.

i get the feeling the big wigs at sega have blacklisted shenmue because of the fact it didnt originally make any money on the dc

if a small company bought the rights to shenmue 3 and needed fans to donate to help make it, sure i would.. but sega dont need our money & if they dont want to make S3 we have no hope :|

as mrslig put it. Well I'd also need to have the feeling there was a realistic chance of Shenmue 3 coming out, not like i would throw money at Yu so he can buy the rights and just produce Shenmue ashtrays or other crap merchandise in China. Or a new cell phone game (yuck!).

Yup, and I'd give £40, the price of a new game.
