Just finished the first series of Fist of the North Star.
109 episodes.
*phew*
Don't think I've ever bothered going through an anime this long before. I'm usually under the impression that anything that gets drug out that long must be pack to the brim with filler, so I usually skip them. "Franchise anime" I like to call them.
And yeah, FotNS had a lot of filler. But by the end, I really didn't mind, since having such a long journey up to the ending just made everything feel a little more epic than it would have been otherwise.
The real problem was the recap episodes. There were just far too many of them. After watching so much of it, I really don't need to be reminded of what happened ten episodes ago for the fourth time.
Regardless, I really enjoyed the show as a whole. Plenty of complaints about how some things about the story were dealt with, but the good easily outweighs the bad. Doubtless I'll be a fan for life now.
Really looking forward to going back into the game Ken's Rage, which I'd only half-finished before, and seeing how they manage to handle and condense the story to fit a beat-em-up.
Still got the second series to watch too. Another 40-something episodes to round out and finish the entire story.
