Hi guys,

New poster to the forum - although I have followed the site over the years seeing as it has been pretty much the only live one stop shop for all things Shenmue. Hope you don't mind me crashing the party and adding my tuppence...

The big points for me are that they are given the care and attention that these games deserve. I'm talking Daytona USA and Jet Set Radio (potentially) as opposed to Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure.

Nice to haves for me would be:

1. Improved textures across the board.
2. Removal of slowdown and pop-up as far as is reasonably possible.
3. Transferable save files between games.
4. Some new additions to the prizes and capsules.
5. Japanese dub available as an option. (I really enjoyed playing number 2 subtitled.)
6. Reduced loading times.

So a pretty conservative list I'd say. I'm not too bothered about changes to the core gameplay (such as using the bike to get to work, etc), I just want a sympathetic update to one of gaming's great stories. (A nicely packaged special edition would be well received too).

I won't even mention the *other* game. I'll keep praying that these two get off the runway first [-o<

Your list seems the most possible, apart from #4 in my opinion. This'll be a quick HD port. I'd be surprised if there was anything major done. Also if the ports would be made from the Dreamcast or Xbox in terms of Shenmue 2.

Although in most cases things like load times and slowdown do get fixed, some cases things are just left alone. (Silent Hill Collection)

What do you think the Achievement/Trophy list will be?

I'd like one achievement to be collecting all the capsule toys

As for additional features... just japanese voice dub option and save transfer

My wishlist is for Shenmue HD not to have shitty retarded pathetic crutches from this gen called trophies and achievements. They soiled what true achievements in gaming really are.

So harsh, so harsh. But I don't care if they are in there or not, just seeing as how every game does have them, they will most likely be in the release.

They will be. It's mandatory for certification. Trophies are fine, don't like them, ignore them.

I'm surprised everyone is requesting the boat chapter. Was this chapter developed for the Dreamcast? I'm sure it's present in the Saturn version if they really did have the first two games completed for that system. I've never even thought about this chapter existing before.

Exactly. It's not a big deal. Just something extra to add to the game. The Passport disc was almost like a form of earning trophies. You were ranked and could compare yourselves with others. Let us all remember that nostalgia is just a form of depression, and we must step into the future.

I don't see the achievements in Shenmue as a bad thing at all if they add them, just limit them to about five and make it for things like collecting capsule toys, and cassettes, or beating Chai in the arcade. It doesn't hurt adding a couple of extra challenges to a game many find boring.

Completion of the notebook is an accomplishment in itself, and one challenge that i would feel so unbelievably overjoyed at achieveing. If Sony/Microsoft feel the need to give me meaningless points or accolades whilst i do it then, to be honest, i couldnt give a rats ass at all. They dont bother me, but at the same time i dont care. I have always felt my own achievements in games. If a trophy/achievement blinks up, it goes out of my mind as quickly as it went in.

I've always wondered if Chai will return again, and if there is more to his story than meets the eye. I wonder if he told Lan Di about Ryo and the Phoenix Mirror and Ryo's pursuit of Zhu. And I wonder if Lan Di already spoke to Zhu and that's why Zhu knew he was headed to Bailu Village. Hmph.
