I'm curious how the latest Shenmue 2 emulator handles this issue. Is there an option for zoomed in cutscenes?

I'm confused. Why would Shenmue 1 and 2's cutscenes be different from each other? Unlike Shenmue I, Shenmue II letterboxes its 4:3 cutscenes, simulating 16:9. That means you could zoom into them and fill up an entire 16:9 frame without losing any of the picture. Interesting. I wonder why it's lette...

He did a nice job explaining that the assets just weren't there for the cutscene ratio. I don't think it'll be that jarring to be honest. I had no idea the original game was so intensive and complicated in coding. It sounds like it was a miracle to port it at all... It still astounds me that after ...

So, just to confirm, anytime they show a Shenmue 2 cutscene without that border, it's just zoomed in right? Because I haven't seen any Shenmue 2 scenes with the border. I remember some members pretty confident that Shenmue 2 was fully widescreen.

What I've noticed from watching people playing these games for the first time in these last few years, is that the cheesy charm of the dub can win them over and be enjoyed either earnestly, or ironically in a sort of post modern way. I'll always maintain Shenmue II's story is carried better in Japa...

Curious, what company ported the Xbox version originally? I've heard Yu was not involve at all

Trying the Shenmue 2 English dub for the first time. Gong from English to Japanese on Dreamcast was jarring.
