Re: DoubleFine Kickstarter Campaign

I dont disagree that the fanbase is too small or the budget too large (though a downloadable shenmue made on yesterdays technology doesn't have to be a 50 million dollar project), but look at with happened with this DoubleFine project. These guys are on their way to successfully raise over a million...

Re: DoubleFine Kickstarter Campaign

Well this is a bit different. It's a case of a game developer using the community to fund a project they want to work on. This isn't about making gestures to Sega, more about a way Yu could independently find money to work on this through crowdsourcing. It would have to come from Yu himself though, ...

DoubleFine Kickstarter Campaign

I'm sure many of you have seen the news of the game developer Double Fine (psychonauts, brutal legend, etc) turning to kickstarter to fundraise for a new game instead of relying on publishers/loans. Obviously any similar effort for Shenmue would need to be owned by Yu himself but after seeing this c...

Re: "Yu Suzuki Becomes Advisor to Premium Agency"

I'm normally with the shenmue pessimists and when I read this headline I assumed Suzuki had left sega and all hope was lost, but after actually reading the andrissang (misspelled) article I'm surprised at how hopeful I am. This is a company that has a history working on two extremely cinematic title...

Re: Yu Suzuki on Shenmue 3: "I think Sega will let me make i

It is honestly mind blowing to see so much optimism at the dojo.

I love it.

Re: Shenmue City Announced

This is honestly fascinating. I think this is a long ways away from the reboot I was personally hoping for, but now that we know YS is involved it makes more sense. Shenmue clearly has a fanbase, but it isnt full of casual gamers. It makes no sense for Sega to simply slap the Shenmue name on some ca...

Lol, watching the Microsoft E3 conference.... for a second, when the guy said "a game that about 10 years ago redefined blah blah" I had a moment of excitement.... then "Halo: Reach".... lol. I guess I put again also this year too much hopes in Shenmue return  Haha, i cant...

Obviously it's not gonna be shenmue, but id like to think we arent all so emotionally fragile that a little speculation is a bad thing, seriously what else do we have to look forward to on a shenmue forum.

new sega game countdown (360 exclusive implied)

Well I posted this in an existed topic, but I figured people would appreciate knowing. Sega just launched a new teaser website promising some arbitrary countdown for a new game. The site has the phrase "360action" in it making people think it's about an xbox 360 exclusive. Obviously no dir...

Ive been listening to shenmue music while writing a paper and that classic shenmue heartache is back in full force. Not to be a downer, but should the fact that this isnt an internal sega studio putting ryo into a game maybe temper our enthusiam? I dont know what sort of creative freedom sega gives ...

Im just so happy, this honestly made my week. Sega acknowledging that shenmue existed and actually including Ryo in a new game is simply mind blowing. After 6 or more years of checking this site this is the single best thing piece of shenmue news ever. Even if all this does is get a few of the boys ...

Dreamcast games headed to PSN (maybe Xbox Live too)

Im sure a lot of you have already seen this, but a leaked sega document from TGS shows that Dreamcast games might be headed for sale eventually on Playstation Network. It sounds like Sega is going to let Sony cherry pick which games they want to sell but if Shenmue 1 somehow ends up on there maybe w...

After thinking about this for a while and following the "progress" of shenmue since the second i finished shenmue 2, i am now starting to believe the following: I think that within the next 2 years episodic gaming will start to take off in a more significant way than it has managed to do s...

Honestly, SEGA's stupidity is probably one of the only things that gives me some hope that we might see shenmue someday. I was also trying to think of what could happen if SEGA decides to exit video games. Well realistically what i think is going to happen is that we're going to see SEGA shift to su...

Why Shenmue isnt going to get made anytime soon

Im sure most of you heard about SEGA-Sammy's earnings report maybe a month or 2 back. The fact that SEGA's video game division was the only part of the entire company that wasnt profitable worries me with regards to shenmues future. SEGA has had a difficult time adjusting to the next generation of v...
