Re: Money just been collected!

My money was collected just under 2 hours ago. (I wanted to post straight away but had login issues). A paltry $60, I'm afraid, as I am not in work. I had some fun monitoring when it crossed $5m ... and when someone changed their mind, pushing the total back again! https://twitter.com/brainychat/st...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

If they would of let the campaign be handled by the Shenmue Dojo it would of been more successful If you hire a professional company you would hope they would organize a more coherent campaign than a cluster of fans. In AJ's case they seem to crib some ideas from the community but with little thoug...

Re: Yu Suzuki officially announces Paypal support for Shenmu

By the time Suzuki and co finally manage to pull their fingers from their butt, those people have moved on. Wow.... I have seen hating on Youtube, gamesites, twitter, newspapers, radio broadcasts... But i wouldn't have expected to find it here... This makes me feel sad.. It doesn't do justice to wh...

Re: Yu Suzuki officially announces Paypal support for Shenmu

It doesn't have to do with "fees" any middleware will take a cut from the money, it was about riding the wave of the KS record, so it could be on the news and get people that were hyped but haven't backed could get on the train. It's just stupid, really bad management. What's the point of...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

I think Awesome Japan actually hurt the campaign. Things mentioned above like the Sony funding should have been put to bed within hours and not weeks. It felt like no preparation had gone into making the campaign at all past writing up the Kickstarter page and interviewing 5 people. I honestly thin...

For what ? Also most kickstarters have paypal even before finishing it.

Exactly. There's absolutely no reasonable excuse why this isn't available yet. Chalk up another blunder for a poorly run campaign.

Re: Keep donations running after the kickstarter

I'm confused by all this, so what is this, another campaign? If that is the case was the pressure to raise $6.3m within the KickStarter all in vain. Seems sorta pointless to have that event and time limit if people, can just contribute toward the funds willy-billy after the deadline. I though the cl...

Re: Yu Suzuki officially announces Paypal support for Shenmu

So where is the donation page? Are they still settng one up? Yes, but Awesome Japan doesn't work on Saturdays. Not even for this exceptionally rare case. They're way too busy celebrating, after essentially having gotten paid to take suggestions from the Shenmue community on how to run a KS campaign...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

Seem like a bunch of nice people with good intentions who were just in way over their head. No hard feelings -- time to move on I think. Good intentions doesn't cut it when this is a professional business and more importantly that business is 100% reliant of crowdfunding. Again I don't place the en...

Re: Anyone worried that Yu might listen to the fans too much

There is nothing worse than fan-service. I absolutely loathe it. I'm a big proponent of the auteur theory and whether it matches our expectations I strongly believe Suzuki should follow his original vision and blue-print with Shenmue III. I do not want fans having input on the story, characters or n...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

I agree with every criticism against AJ, but I have to say a major disappointment was the scene with shenhua and ryo, with their incorrect modelling and bad voice acting. That would have been directed by Suzuki and I doubt Awesome Japan would dare ask for changes. That scene should have hinted at t...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

If AJ gets to handle the long term funding, it will be a disaster. They need to go!! I'm sure their team was way too inexperienced to handle a campaign like this, but that's really no excuse for the number of fuck ups they produced. Many of them were out of pure laziness. How can you ask for sums o...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

paypal not being up immediately after the kickstarter ended was a huge opportunity missed. the kickstarter was raising by 1000's even at the very end. at least some portion of those would have hopped straight onto paypal. shenmue is trending huge on twitter today and there is still no paypal for pe...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

If it hadn’t been for you, there never would have been a KS video in the first place! Doesn't anyone see that's part of the criticism? The fact AJ relied upon fans to create content at the most basic level (i.e. explaining what the series is while at the same time asking for those fans money). I me...

Re: AwesomeJapan - postmortem performance

Crudely made fan video?! Well I never! Just kidding, if I knew it was going to be featured, I would have put a lot more into it. Although I'm not sure it's necessary to make this topic. It's over now and we broke records. We're getting a fleshed out Shenmue game and that's all that matters. That wa...
