Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

That's also true and a good point. But then none of Sega's 'remasters' have ever been particularly mind blowing either (happy to be corrected on that, if I'm missing some that were?), so all I'm saying is perhaps it wouldn't be that surprising if there aren't many changes or additions to the games ...

Re: Famitsu Article

Perhaps, but then again wouldn't it be weird for a reputable magazine like Famitsu to start throwing around random facts and figures (70%) if they weren't confirmed on some level? I addressed that in another thread, but will copy and paste here too: Who really knows what that '70%' figure entails. ...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

But they haven't once referred to it as either remastered or any of the usual slogans that get thrown around with HD remasters. It's not called 'Shenmue 1 & 2 HD', it's not called Shenmue 1 & 2 Definitive Collection, it's not called Shenmue 1 & 2 Remastered'. It's just called Shenmue 1 ...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

It seems like we as fans have built up our expectations, when Sega have never hyped these up as being amazing, 'definitive HD remasters'. To me it feels like quite the opposite. A lot of 'fans' here have done nothing but downplay and criticise these remasters despite SEGA pushing them massively and...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

Who really knows what that '70%' figure entails. We don't know if it's an arbitrary figure given on a whim or if they are really are that close to completion. We also don't know factors such as how old the material we've seen is or where Famitsu is getting this info from. There's a lot of things we ...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

I mentioned it in another thread but it's not clear yet whether or not the Famitsu article is basing this claim on what we've seen so far, or if they have information that we don't have yet. If it's the latter then I'll be right there with you, but we should wait for more information before hopping ...

Re: Famitsu Article

I would question if they are basing this off of what we've seen so far like many people here are doing, or if they have independently confirmed this from the source.

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

So they have simply banged in a quick port of the Xbox version It’s a PS Store release dressed up as a proper remaster. Again let me reiterate: it's ok to discuss these concerns, but when you begin passing this speculation off as fact like the above examples it becomes a problem. Please be mindful ...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

Ok so clearly they were lying. They’ve simply taken the X-Box (which is pretty much a PC in a box) version taken the engine converted it to run on more modern hardware and loaded Shenmue 1 into it. Problem is the engine is entirely proprietary so I doubt that they are going to add anything to it ot...

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

It's been confirmed already that it's a source code port:

We can finally reveal that the d3t team have been resurrecting Shenmue from the original source code written over 20 years ago!

Re: Concerns about Shenmue HD.

Yeah, no complaints from me over the HUD either. Looks just like how I'd imagine a high resolution Shenmue HUD to look.

Re: No Time Skip In Shenmue I

Shenmue definitely isn't a game for everybody. I think the people who say that kind of thing aren't going to be fans of the game regardless of whether there is a time skip feature or not.

Re: Shenmue HD - Are the cutscenes in 4:3 (Non-Widescreen)?!

Did anyone really suggest that it will be 4:3 in the final product and passed it as fact? I don't think anyone did, and I would agree that it's illogical to think like that. What I am saying is that we shouldn't 'rest on our laurels', so to speak, based on the baseless knowledge that the developers...

Re: No Time Skip In Shenmue I

Why do people assume that newcomers will instantly dislike Shenmue because of its slower pace? Almost everybody I've introduced Shenmue to in real life has loved it despite having to wait around a bit. On top of this, there's been a pretty big influx of relatively large streamers playing the game al...

Re: Shenmue HD - Are the cutscenes in 4:3 (Non-Widescreen)?!

It's not so much the voicing of concern that's the problem. That's fine, if you have concerns that you want to discuss then fair enough, go for it. We just ask that you use a little bit of common sense. It's the jumping to illogical conclusions and stating them as fact (e.g. suggesting there will be...
