Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

I think alot of you are taking this too harshly. Id rather them make jokes like this, recognizing the fan base as rabid die hards then completely ignoring us. I LOL'ed hard at the Whale joke. Yeah, it was intended as a bit of banter and l did laugh at the Sonic character joke. The PSO2 comments wer...

Re: NeoGAF: New Japanese trademark from Sega (Shenmue)

My Japanese is limited but I did a bit of searching of Japanese trademarks and here's what I found. The first 2 pictures are current, valid Shenmue trademarks which were renewed in 2009 so are good until 2019 (each period of registration lasts 10 years). http://t.imgbox.com/I6n96Fou.jpg http://t.img...

Re: New Yu Suzuki Interview (Shenmue 3, Kickstarter ?)

What publishers want to see is if there's a market for a game and of course there's demand for it. The question is if they feel there's enough demand to justify funding the game. It's nigh-on impossible for the whole project to be funded through a kickstarter campaign alone but it could be the case ...

Re: Shenmue Postmortem Discussion

It was a talk about a hugely influential game for developers by a developer albeit a hugely respected one. It was never at any point billed as anything else, so those who got their hopes up were always going to be disappointed. I enjoyed the talk but I'll concede the Q&A wasn't the greatest. Suz...

Re: Shenmue Postmortem Discussion

Furthermore, I do not know how much leverage Sega still has over the series, as it has lost the trademark in the US: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/02/19/shenmue-trademark-canceled-in-us-due-to-inactivity They've lost the Shenmue trademark not the IP. As I understand it, Cerny and Suzuki know eac...

Re: Shenmue Postmortem Discussion

Yu didnt even attempt to answer the shenmue 3 question, I like the way that question was just fired in straight away though! According to GamaSutra his reply was "Of course I want to make one, if I have the right opportunity..." https://twitter.com/gamasutra/status/446401714896523264

Re: Shenmue Postmortem Discussion

Looking forward to this but not expecting any announcement. This is a developer conference not a consumer show after all.

Shenmue could make a great tech demo for Morpheus though. [-o<
