It seems to be either/or. Like, if you want to sling Mario's Cap you can swing your joycon to do it, but if you would rather not you can do the same thing by pushing the Y button. I think in Skyward Sword you really didn't have a choice in the matter.

Resolution aside, I think having a PC connected VR headset is nice because of the homebrew content you can use. Like exploring the Enterprise D interior! PSVR seems more like a closed system.
I wouldn't bother with it personally. Even my Occulus Rift is looked down upon by Vive users, but it's still far superior to PSVR. The problem with VR is that the resolution is low enough that you can see the individual pixels. I can see them with the Rift, and the resolution is even lower on PSVR ...
