Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

Voice overs were possible on the Mega Drive. And the SNES.

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

Nah, never forgotten them gems. Rush is tip five for me, easy. Especially the for the fucking music. Just stole the sequel off my nephew last week actually.

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

I think Sonic Heroes is what turned me off Sonic. There was a point where instead of bearing his teeth with a confident grin he opened his mouth and showed his tongue. It's subtle, but it changed the direction of the character from "Cocky arrogant hero who always wins" to "Cmon guys,...

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

So the only two points you're responding to are things I've already covered? It's commendable that Sonic Team like to add these in to order replayability, but it'd make more sense to make said challenges enjoyable. (not properly played a home console entry since Sonic Adventure 2... unless you coun...

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

Even now you refuse to talk about Seaside Hill at all, once I pointed out how it’s a great showcase of the branching paths and precise platforming. Branching paths in this game don't actually work too well because of speed, momentum, and the camera. It has little to do with skill and more to do wit...

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

Your arguments in favour of these games is that you enjoy the level design. My argument is that I don't think Generations is a good game because the mechanics are poorly designed... amongst a few other things. If you want me to go in depth it'd require drawing diagrams and calculating trajectories,...

Re: Why isn't Sega funding Shenmue III?

I recall a number floating around here of sales figures for Shenmue 2X at about 300-400k, and the Wikipedia article puts it at 100k for the Dreamcast version. Also I remember the latter being comparatively cheap (or less expensive, at least) than most releases at the time. Safe to say that Shenmue ...

Re: Why isn't Sega funding Shenmue III?

Not necessarily the case with Shenmue Online. It was a pre-existing game that SEGA granted a Shenmue reskin to. They'd invest money, but the return would've been worth it for them as China and South Korea were really getting into their MMOs at the time, and PSO was enjoying success in the East. It ...

Re: Why isn't Sega funding Shenmue III?

Because it's the kinda decision that can get a lot of people sacked. And why is that? Does Sega go around firing any employee that's a fan of Shenmue and says something like "I can't take this shit anymore Sega, I'm getting the money and running away with it for Shenmue"?! Business works ...

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

The criticisms are late because I got it over the summer. When I say there's too much going on, I'm talking in terms of distractions in a game that has a heavy emphasis on speed. If your game isn't making it clear where you can and can't go then that is poor design. If there's a noticeable differen...

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

Elaboration for the fanboy: The layout and branching paths of the levels may have appealed to you, but for me the mechanics nullified any of it for me. I enjoyed the first three, but there was far too much going on visually 95% of the time. There was also points where the side scroller sections com...

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

Um, no, I completed the story and over half of the side-missions. And the Crisis City level was one of the worst. It's not a good game.

Re: Sonic Forces & Sonic Mania

I still can't believe people actually liked Sonic Generations. Sure, the first three levels were decent, but the mechanics themselves were pretty damn awful. Even Classic Sonic had major issues with the poor jump controls. It's pretty hilarious to me how all this shite was set in motion by my favou...
