Re: Speed run Shenmue 2

See doing the betting and resetting is very easy but at the sametime because im using an xbox 360 there aint a 'reset button' so i gotta dashboard then reload? You can still hold Start and Back for about 3 seconds to make a soft reset to the title screen. Just like on Xbox. Shenmue is absolutely no...

Re: Playing Dreamcast on an HDTV

Yeah I know, the image on a CRT monitor looks good. I had my Dreamcast hooked up to a 17" one years ago for some testing and the picture looked pretty clear. It's logical that a CRT will hide some of the nasty stuff because of how it works and becuase of the smaller size compared to an HDTV. Sc...

Re: Playing Dreamcast on an HDTV

The box is usually the better choice. It always gives the ability to switch over to Composite or S-Video. It also has the advantage of being able to use your own VGA and audio cables. But on the other hand you have to have those cables and since your living in Europe it would be a better choice to j...

Re: Old Xbox Cover Artwork

Thanks a lot Ziming! That was just the artwork that I was looking for! Though afair it was on a pack shot when I saw it last time. I really wonder what the hell the artist was thinking when he did that. I just HAS to be a joke. It's actually really funny just now. The moment I saw the picture, it im...

Old Xbox Cover Artwork

I remember that years ago I saw an (supposedly) older version of the cover artwork for the Xbox version of Shenmue II where Ryo had a really weird face. I tried searching the Dojo but didn't find the image in the gallery. I did find an old thread where it was mentioned though: viewtopic.php?f=4&...

Why does everyone say Quick "Time" Event?

Well this is bugging me for years and I recently thought about it again. I just had to bring this up now. We all know how Shenmue revolutionized games in almost every way when it came out and the QTEs were one of the things it made popular. They were around before but it was Shenmue that called them...

Re: Random Shenmue Thoughts

Thanks for the video! Yeah I know these. They are all from Shenmue II right? But they do sound better then in the game so they seem to at least have that stuff stored somewhere.

Re: Random Shenmue Thoughts

Shenmue got me big time again and I just finished playing the first game and watching the movie afterwards and I noticed more then ever before that the voices on the DVD are of really good quality. No reverb, no clipping and gerneally very clear. Also there are a handfull of scenes where Ryo says a ...

Re: Rarest, most valuable items and collectibles?

The funny little Sega console toys are definately the rarest you can get from the capsule toy machines. But they aren't nearly as hard to get as the certificates from the arcade. These are entirely skill based as you need to finish a game to get one. While this is pretty achievable with Hang On (got...

Re: Kotaku Article: In Case Sega Forgot, Fans Still Really..

Nothing special but you can never have enough of those "there are fans out there that are actually still waiting for SIII" articles, so it's nice to read that. ;-)

Re: Which Arcade Games should be in Shenmue III?

I think that they should stick to games that are A: from Sega and B: fitting the time period. Yeah we all know that Ryo has a Saturn and that both Sonic and Virtua Fighter alredy exist in this 1986 but I think they shouldn't go to far with the arcade games because that would really push it to far. I...

Re: 16:9 mod

You can play Shenmue in real 16:9 (even in real FullHD) if you run it on nullDC and use "Extra Geometry". As the name suggest nullDC actually renders more geometry data and you get to see things that normaly wouldn't fit into the screen. It actually works very well. Sometimes you'll see th...

Re: Accessing areas which were not supposed to

When you're in the ghost town map can you actually walk around like normal up the hill all the way to the doors of dragon street?
A couple of months ago I asked if it would be possible to walk around this map and it sound like it is. Nice!
Looking forward to some screenshots. 8)
