This happened to me just once ages ago. I believe I was walking up the stairs to Sakura Heights when the 7:00 nightfall cutscene hit, then when gameplay resumed I was in the air like so.

The area where Ziming gives Xiuying the pendant doesn't appear to be in Hong Kong, that's for sure. But it could be anywhere for all we know. Lots of areas in Guilin look similar to this. We don't know if Miao Village was the area in the beta pictures from Muecas, that's just assumption.
