Shenmue II has a 88 on Metacritic which is pretty solid for a game that is so polarizing on reviewers. I have a feeling this new collection is gonna have a much lower score due to standards changing for people.

I know people wanted a save transfer for III but has it even been confirmed that you will have a save transfer from 1 to 2?

Dat Ryo and Nozomi one looks REALLY good! Seems like some bloom lighting is in effect. Don't mind the 4:3 if it's gonna look that good. But we will see.

I really think we could be a little biased when it comes to the pictures since we love the games so much but that's ok. Still can't wait to see how the modern gamers are going to react to these games. Despite the graphics not being up to current standards these games are too speciaI that i'm sure people would get over that.

I'm sorry to say this but you are the exception my friend. Most 17 year old gamers are mindlessly playing things like fortnite or pubg. Shenmue is mostly a old mans game in this age.
Hopefully this HD collection brings new fans and younger gamers aboard, i wanna believe there's more 17 year olds like you who can see the value of these games despite their age and not having the ''shiniest'' visuals or online components.

Yeah like Jibby said, i'm not worried about Yu Suzuki not being involved since these are essentially ports. And considering the images we've seen and the philosophy that Sega Europe/d3t is going for, they are making sure these ports are very faithful to the original and the original vision of Yu Suzuki.

After SOTC I actually would be much worried if say Bluepoint gave Shenmue the remake treatment. I remember the constant threads and articles talking about the design and visuals and art direction differing from the original, i much rather have the actual 100 percent original games/code and assets faithfully ported to make sure that YS vision isn't being meddle with. Hell, personally i wouldn't mind if these games were kept fully in 4:3 and with the original HUD but i know i'm on a minority even in here on that. :)

Just not having to rely on my aging dreamcast with disc reading issues or stuttery/inaccurate emulation to play these 2 masterpieces is really what i'm looking the most forward to.

I'm also really interested headin to twitch and see if any popular streamers pick up the game and what they think about it.

Just plain jain having these 2 amazing games on modern platforms is all i need. Is more convenient for us and it will bring a new audience. The best of both worlds. Im ok with no 60fps or 16:9 for the entire game ect. The modern controls are a plus and great and all but i won't be using them. Tbh my biggest concern is the lack of a loading screen. It's just too iconic to remove and i'm sure these modern platforms can load these games in a instant so i wonder what they will do.

I won't sell mine because i feel Dreamcast still has some software im interested in and emulation for it still isn't to my liking. Is interesting though seeing people on this topic that value the hardware and others who value the software no matter where its located. I'm probably on the first camp but i might budge and sell or get rid of my DC once emulation improves since my DC is really being a pain lately with disc reading issues and im not the type to keep a non working console around on display.

What about the Sonic capsule toys? Sonic didn't exist in 86/87 either and i wouldn't call the capsule toys easter eggs. They are featured more prominently than the Saturn.

I also hope they keep the Map Walls/Loading sections Bypass exploit from 2. I sure love to abuse it sometimes on replays.

People are so quick to say stuff like this, yet will also moan and complain if they show it in an unfinished/WIP state (evidenced by the reveal trailer) .

Maybe it's not ready to be showcased? Perhaps they're working on addressing the concerns raised from its initial showing before letting the public see it again. At least they cared enough to get Adam and Corey in for signing sessions as an alternative.

My only concern is that with the old music vs the new music is that unless Iuchi has kept the same synth and MIDI sounds on his computer from the Shenmue 1 and 2 days, the new tracks will sound very different and create a clash. I hope for a consistent musical score that has a great variety as well regardless.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. This is a fairly recent piece by Iuchi and it still sounds like something right out of Shenmue.

After the d3t developer told us they fixed Shenhua's eyes in this forum i wouldn't worry. I'm sure d3t is very aware. Hell Its probably already fixed and that's a photo of a old outdated build

The recolouring and repositioning of the clown's hair, along with the addition of a little tuft on top of its head, is a nod to Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons :)

I knew compressed audio was what we were getting. While it's known Sega still has Ryo's English lines uncompressed i highly doubt they also have every single uncompressed line from the close to one a thousand NPCs throughout both games in both languages so its understandable.

1-2 seconds of loading is impressive, way shorter than on GDEMU or on a emulator but i don't know i hope new players can read all the loading screen info in time i guess lol.

I don't think the reasoning is garbage. Shenmue runs on a pretty custom proprietary engine and porting from Source Code and emulation are completely different beasts. Maybe they could only get it to 1080p and 4K is too big of a resolution for the engine to handle. I seem to recall Bayonetta on PC having issues on certain scenes when running on high resolutions so it could be something similar on that front.

Either way it is a miracle these games even run on modern hardware considering how different the architecture the Dreamcast is from modern systems. I'm more than happy with 1080p.

IRL Dobuita is gorgeous, great cinematography in this doc.

We got to see the subtitles text which is great, they sure have made the letters smaller which i'm not a huge fan of but i sort of expected. Still think they look good. Game footage seems to be from a older build but it still looks very accurate to the original.

EDIT: Also noticed in the split second the showed from the intro where fuku-san gets thrown out of the dojo, the hazy fog is back which was missing on the first trailer proving that it was a incomplete build and we shouldn't worry.
