Re: BROTHAMITE BROTHAMITE! Ask the wise Brotha fools!

Will Kane ever win the WWE or World Title again or is Glen just going to to be the nice guy still and let the company walk over him as a jobber?

Probably one more time before he retires, I assume. No telling how long that will be though.

If a black guy was literally stealing chicken from me it what be so funny that I would forget to be mad. That sounds like a parody they might do on Boondocks.

Re: FAGGOT

Outrage on behalf of homosexuals is the new Christianity. Every few thousand years or so, people need to attach themselves to a morality so they might enjoy the feeling of righteous outrage and feel better than other people. It's very obvious. A century ago, it was the other way around, so the elites enjoyed the feeling of outrage over the concept of homosexuality. But then homosexuals got rich, so now the paradigm has shifted to the opposite end of the arbitrary spectrum, and I imagine it could even go back to the other side one day. But do not ever mistake this outrage as genuine. It's just the popular thing to be at the moment. These epochal moral paradigms exist so that people can do whatever they want as long as they firmly and publicly support popular moral principle A, B, or C. In other words, the idea is that you can cheat, murder, steal, lead your country to war, allow banks to ruin millions, utilize foreign sweatshops rather than more expense humane labor at high standards, etc. But as long as you publicly show outrage for the sake of popular moral principle A, B, or C, and so on, you're good. At this moment in time, caring about homosexuals is a big one. It may be the only universal maxim in the globalization process. It's so important, Piers Morgan asked the President of Iran about it... not because he thought an Iranian gave a damn, but because he was attempting to score moral outrage cred among the elites. Hence, in globalized elite society (all the rich and those who desperately want a piece of their pie), outrage on behalf of homsexuals has become the prime pragma of the age. All morality has been distilled to the love and public defense of homosexuals. Every major channel on TV, every major website, every school, every court, acts in concert at all times to enshrine this one last dogma beyond which there is no higher truth. You dig? Humanity 101. We're not rubik's cubes.

I can understand people getting pissed if you aim it at them and mean to offend them. People who just get offended when people use offensive words are people we can do without. The words wouldn't seem so bad if they themselves didn't make such a fuss over it.

Re: Things That Made You Laugh Today

This is a really old joke I have had saved to the computer for years.

A Jamaican man wants a job, but the foreman won't hire him until he passes a little maths test.
Here is your first question, the foreman said. "Without using numbers, represent the number 9."
"Without numbers?" The Jamaican says, "Dat is easy." And proceeds to draw three trees.
"What's this?" the boss asks
"Ave you got no brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine," says the Jamaican.
"Fair enough," says the boss. "Here's your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99."
The Jamaican stares into space for a while, then picks up the picture that he has just drawn and makes a smudge on each tree. "Ere you go."
The boss scratches his head and says, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?"
"Each of da trees is dirty now. So, it's dirty tree, and dirty tree, and dirty tree. Dat is 99."
The boss is getting worried that he's going to actually have to hire this Jamaican, so he says, "All right, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100."
The Jamaican stares into space some more, then he picks up the picture again and makes a little mark at the base of each tree and says, "Ere you go. One hundred."
The boss looks at the attempt. "You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred!"
The Jamaican leans forward and points to the marks at the base of each tree and says, "A little dog come along and crap by each tree. So now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, which makes one hundred."
"So, when I start?"

Re: FAGGOT

Yes. Over the course of ten years, I've posted well over 4000 twattish things. I've trolled, posted in colors, and hijacked literally thousands of threads because I was addicted to being a spectacular FAGGOT. We're talking on average 1.49 such posts every single day for nearly a decade. That's a lifestyle. Even typing this post, I almost colored it white out of instinct, and had to consciously stop myself. That's... messed... up! It took our trademarked friend to wake me up, by pointing out that I was straddling the nob end of the gay scale in assless chaps.

Re: Where did Henry Go?

I understand what you mean. About mods, there are other guys who hang around here often enough so it should not be a problem to find a replacement IF we really need one. What surprised me most in this thread was the negative post by Peter actually. I'm just used to positive ones from him about Shenmue and this place.

Sidenote : Now that you mention LanDC, I vote for him as mod just for the hell of it. Like some honorary title people get at universities for earlier achievements. It's not like actually being here has always been mandatory as a mod during the Dojo's history :P

Re: Where did Henry Go?

I can understand why he's left, if he's left. This place has become a place I don't really want to post at any longer, which if fine because all of my recent posts have been pointless shit. I like a lot of people here, but I can't stay.

Various personalities that linger around here that i just cant stand anymore, i fear posts will become less and less.

You shouldn't be a mod. I had a complaint and all you could say about it was that I'm a Ryudo supporter so "of course I'd say that". Then you ignored me. Fuck you.

All I had to say, goodbye.

Re: Where did Henry Go?

I once contemplated suicide. Hell, even now life is and always will be tough with exceptionally little in the way of reprieves. But when my world came crashing down all around me and I had no choice but to stop being in denial over feeling like a woman on the inside, that brought me to a dark place I was not prepared to deal with or preserver through one little bit. Even after being in denial, feeling trapped, like in a prison with no hope for parole or escape very nearly pushed me over the edge. A lot of people think taking your own life is cowardly. It practically means nothing to say you're thinking about it. I hear people say things like that all the time. Ironically I never told anyone, until now, and probably came a lot closer than those that did. Personally, I think it takes an awful lot of nerve to suppress that natural instinct of self preservation and go through with finally pulling the trigger than most would imagine. Ultimately though it's because of cases like this, when everyone you touched in your life loses it in their own downward spiral in the face of your demise that I think I could not see it through.

Re: Im Lance Armstrong and Ive won 0 Tour De France titles

Still not sure I follow the argument for him still. Seems like the same situations we have with home run hitters in baseball. And I didn't just read the headlines like you'd like to believe. So I know he hasnt been proven guilty nor innocent, but why avoid taking more tests if it will finally clear his name? If the alligations are so strong with 10 former team mates trying to come out against him why not prove them wrong by just doing it? What is there to loose? If he's passed previously why not pass again? I feel for the guy being hounded so much but why not save the titles on the line? Is one more bullshit test gonna break the guy? Is the USDA really that influenced by the French where he would have no choice to refuse to avoid them lying or tampering with the test?

It's because he's been hounded by this same organization for such a long time now. He's already taken test after test, ever since the start of his career, on up to this very year. The guy is retired now. Taking a new test would show absolutely nothing, but these people have kept on him about it regardless. Like Spokes said, this organization was looking for their own specific conclusion, rather than the actual truth. And Armstrong knows that. He knows they wouldn't let up until they can figure out something to screw him over.
So he's just decided to bow out. He doesn't feel it's worth it anymore.
It's easy to say from the outside "well why not just take another test?"
But he's proven himself so many times already that taking another test to appease the naysayers probably feels like an insult to him. And you can only be patient with something like that so many times before you just want to flip them the middle finger and say "I'm done with you," which is exactly what he's done.

Re: What Game/Games Are You Currently Playing?

It's not all nostalgia. It had a huge impact on the industry as a whole, and popularized one of the biggest genres in the entire medium. It's a wildly important series and was, for its time, very well-made.
FPS's have advanced incredibly since then, but that doesn't negate Doom's merits.
We could go back to any game that was popular and influential in the past and claim that it's "in reality nothing that great," but it's just such a jaded point of view.
The fact that we've become accustomed to the intervening advances in gaming since then doesn't lessen the quality of past games. As different as modern FPS's have become, 2D FPS's may as well be considered a separate genre. And in that genre, Doom is excellent.

Re: Nintendo and Sega discussing the future of Shenmue ?

Well, it's not exactly an announcement, it's a rumour based on the testimony of an apparent "insider", and sources usually work with one publication, not multiple.

As a football fan though (especially a City supporter) I know that, "insiders" and "close, trusted sources" tend to be people who work in or around the area of the clubs/companies they are providing information on, but more often than not don't actually work directly for (if at all) for said club/company.

Even then, most of the time it's second, third, or fourth hand hearsay that could've been heard at any part of a conversation. They could've only heard what has been underlined...

"Paul who works maintenence said about those Shenmue tweets. I swear, some of these freaks are doing things that are borderline harassment."
"Yeah, I heard about that. They're even tweeting us at the moment. As if Nintendo are gonna call SEGA up and talk about resurrecting Shenmue to release the third instalment on the Wii-U ?"
"Innit. Doesn't make any sense. They need to get a life."
"Ah hurd dat!"

...minus the blatantly western colloquialisms, obviously...

Anyone miss practical effects in films?

Don't get me wrong CG works wonders in modern Matte Paintings and Sci fi and other things.

Still go look at Pumpkin,Head The thing,The Howling,Robo Cop,Jurassic Park,Terminator and many more. The old animatronics and suits. When in the hands of of Legends like Rick Baker & Stan WInston and others. To this day they hold up better than any older CGI and even a lot of modern CG creatures. Granted CG you can use them for fast movements. However the look and feel and organic movement is lost. CG has many great uses but I still think practical is betetr for so many things esp creatures

Re: Anyone miss practical effects in films?

I miss em'. Practical effects seem to stand the test of time. Star Wars for instance still looks classy. The films hold up significantly better than the early 80's-90's cgi films that just look awful awful awful. Cgi is the kind of think that looks impressive at the time, but awful a year or two down the road. The star wars Special Edition is good example of this. 90's cgi looks woefully out of place at best, and god damned terrible at worst.

Re: PS4 small leap in power less costly *RUMOR*

Don't trust this rumour.
Sony and Microsoft are going for a big leap, like many important figures in the industry have said themselves.
Look at the latest first party and third party tech demos for the Ps4 and X720 (they call it 'next gen demos'), and the urgency of Sony to go 4k.
