Re: Shenmue 2D

http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r643/YCCTH/Shenmue%202D/TestRyoWalkCycle002Stationary_zps57d26361.gif

This might seem like a small update, but it took me a while to figure out a work flow that was within the confines of my abilities. It's funny. It's a similar process I used with the pixel art rendering I did before, but I was still having trouble wrapping my head around things.

A friend tells me he looks a bit angry, so the hands will be more relaxed in the final renderings.

Anyway, now that I have a more specific process of drawing animation frames, character animation should be a little faster and updates should be more frequent.

I'm glad I got this out of the way though and now I can start drawing details and then eventually move on to the environmental artwork, which includes the NPCs.

My current idea is to skip the run cycle for now, fully render this walk cycle, and then move on to the unique buildings of Shenmue's Dobuita. We'll see.

My Shenmue video-review

Hello Shenmue Dojo!

I just finished playing through Shenmue for the first time a few days ago, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the game. I had always heard good things about it, but.. words fail me, but if Shenmue was a book, it'd be a real page-turner.

I made a video review to help share this game with people who haven't give the game a chance yet, and as a nice retrospective for people who have played and enjoyed the game. I hope you like what you see!

Re: Shenmue 2D

I've been fairly busy with other things, but still making progress, just in another way.

New change to the project: I''ve been attempting to force myself to make my artwork and potential games in 2D for various reasons, but I think it's better for me to focus more on 3D. I have much more experience in 3D, albeit more in environmental work, but I've also done character creation, rigging, and animation as well.

As such, I've decided to make this in 3D. It's going to take much longer, but if I'm going to do this, I think it's in my best interests to attempt a 3D 'game' for a Shenmue remake. The games themselves were all about simulating life (Japan/China) and I've come to terms with the fact that 2D simply just doesn't do it well enough. One wants to look and walk around environments in all dimensions, reach out and grab things, and talk face to face with interesting characters.

New Project Outline:
-Attempt to match today's standards of graphics while considering the original Shenmue style.
-Create Ryo Hazuki in 3D, rig, and animate him so that he's able to traverse the environments in a relatively realistic and controllable manner.
-Create Dobuita and a few important interiors.
-Create a few characters he can interact with on the street or elsewhere. Not sure about this one, but we'll see. Each character will take several weeks, which is an insane amount of work, so I might just leave them out.

A lighting system will be out of the question as I don't have Unity Pro. Environmental shadows will be baked into textures within 3DS Max and therefore static in the 'game'.

There's a lot of new things I need to learn, so this will take much longer for me, but I think it's about time I work on my strengths instead of forcing myself into overly difficult and tedious territory.

Ryo Hazuki Orthographic Rendering:

http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r643/YCCTH/Shenmue%20UpRes/RyoHazuki-Orthos003_zps62f3c845.jpg

http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r643/YCCTH/Shenmue%20UpRes/RyoHazuki-Orthos004_zps06e90189.jpg http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/r643/YCCTH/Shenmue%20UpRes/RyoHazuki-Orthos005_zps1dba9af0.jpg

I've made this using several pieces of reference, specifically the front/back promo renderings that are available of Ryo. His proportions are pretty strange, but I think I've got something decent enough to move on. There aren't any details like folds or creases for a reason: I'm going to learn how to make folds in Mudbox, a sculpting program, and attempt to make him more realistic. If it's not working out, I'll add the fold 'manually' in Max.

Since I'm pretty happy with the faces, I'm going to start modeling his head. Should be fun going back into 3D after a long hiatus for me. Time to shake the rust off.

Hobby Project: Brands of Dobuita

Hi All:

I've been a member for a long time now but rarely post. I recently decided that it might be fun to start a creative project based around Shenmue.

My idea is to take brands or products in the game and give them new life by recreating them in high-fidelity images or mockups. My first stab is to tackle the flavors of Bell Woods (see winning can attached).

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2431461/can_winning.png

I'd like to reach out for the community for some assistance. I need the Shenmue I textures for reference. Since MegaUpload (a place where lots of stuff users on this forum uploaded to) got shutdown by the US Dep. of Justice I haven't been able to download them. If someone can share them, I can continue my work and share it right back!

Cheers

Re: Hobby Project: Brands of Dobuita

Here is an update of the winning can (I took some artistic liberties with the back of the label to add ingredients and nutrition information to make it a little more real feeling - but the the front of the can and the text down the side are copies of the original).

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2431461/winning_frontback.png

Thanks to those who have offered help with textures, however I still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. I got the emulator and text ripper working but the UI isn't overlaying over NullDC so I can't see what texture I have selected. I tried spamming the export button but froze NullDC. Also, the Japanese texture pack has Coke - which would not be nearly as fun to reproduce :P.

Project Berkley is a bonus GD-ROM that was included with Virtua Fighter 3TB, and released alongside the Dreamcast in Japan 15 years ago. (November 27, 1998)

The video has Yu Suzuki talking about his older arcade games and the concepts behind creating a game like Shenmue. It reveals early pre-rendered footage, character artwork, and full 3d busts of the main characters.

Dobuita-St Real Tour

Hey everyone,

Last week I went on a little trip to Dobuita. Thought you may enjoy some of the pics I took, especially Tom's snack, the famed Yokosuka Burger and a very familiar staircase.

Re: Shenmue Tweetathon

Thank you to everyone who took part in today's event.

December 3rd 2013 is proof that when Shenmue fans stick together, their a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully, we can maintain this pressure in the coming months, and get Sony to take notice of the passion that the Shenmue fanbase has.

As a result of everyone's effort, I would like to offer each and every one of you a special gift that I've had lying around for a while. More on this in the coming weeks,

Special thanks to Adam Koralik and TeamYu. These guys really went the extra mile for us.

Well done everyone.

Re: Chi you men boss of the bosses??

just to be clearer what i am asking is:

are there 4 main bosses - north (tentei), south (niao sun) east (Lan di) and west (ziming)

or

is tentei seperate from the compass direction bosses (5 overall bosses) leaving northern boss as complete mystery apart from the his silhouete in that one image released by dev team.
Apparently, Tentei, the Emperor of Heaven, is not one of the Four leaders. There seems to be some variations in Chinese mythology, but you can get a rough idea from this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Symbols_(China)

Tentei is the Yellow Dragon of the Center. Remember the Yellow Head building in Kowloon is surrounded by the other four "compass direction" buildings.

Re: Sony Is Trying To Bring Shenmue To Playstation

Well like I made Ryo express earlier, this is mighty disappointing. It's a missed chance of more publicitiy and it just feels like Shenmue fans got cheated. You can actually say that it goes beyond feeling, becasue it actually is the truth.

The numbers just don't match and if you read the article then Shenmue is not only never mentioned, they also say that Timesplitters was a close second and they can't talk themselves out of that anymore.
But sometimes that's just the way it goes... Oh what's that they all vote for? Shenmue? Nah we can't list that, I've never played that and I won't because it never was on a PlayStation. So it doesn't count anyway!

#SaveShenmue

http://teamyu.net/SaveShenmue/TeamYu.png

We figured it was best to start a new thread that dealt with current campaign details, rather than expecting newcomers to wade through pages of outdated information in the original Team Yu topic .

From March 2012 to December 2013, with the help of several fan groups like Shenmue 500K, Shenmue UK, Shenmue Master, and of course Shenmue Dojo, we have been co-ordinating a monthly Shenmue Tweetathon every 3rd of the month, using the hashtag #GiveYuTheShenmueLicense. This has been supported by the likes of Sumo Digital's Steve Lycett, Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner, gamesTM magazine, 1UP.com, Sega Nerds, comedians Imran Yusuf and Matt Walker, French musician Kavinsky, former Puddle of Mudd guitarist Paul Phillips, Virtua Fighter composer Takayuki Nakamura, and the voice of Ryo Hazuki himself, Corey Marshall.

On January 3rd 2014, the Tweetathon undergoes a New Years evolution, expanding onto Facebook and Tumblr along with Twitter, using the new hashtag #SaveShenmue.

The aim is to keep exploiting the public platform of social media to raise awareness of gamers' discontent with Sega, and their refusal to fund a revival of this unfinished series and provide their customers with the closure we've been awaiting for over a decade. At the same time we aim to appeal to console manufacturers like Sony, who recently expressed an interest in pursuing Shenmue as one of its most highly requested titles for the Playstation 4, asking them to step in and help drag Sega kicking and screaming into the realms of customer satisfaction.

To help make Yu Suzuki's unshakable goal of Shenmue III a reality, we ask all gamers to follow the three simple steps at TeamYu.net/SaveShenmue every month, maintaining the pressure on all concerned. Please spread the word and be heard on the 3rd - Team Yu needs YOU to #SaveShenmue!

SHENMUE CHRONICLES CHAPTER 1 (RYO'S STORY)

Yooooooo Dojo.

The Shenmue holiday special is finally in a decent state for others to play. This Demo was supposed to be released on Christmas day....however there were some serious game breaking bugs that took a while to fix. (better late than never)

READ THIS THREAD CAREFULLY TO AVOID RUNNING INTO PROBLEMS..... AND TO HAVE THE GAME RUN SMOOTHLY.

Origins Of The Game

For the past couple of weeks, I have been investigating a visual novel application known as ren'py. I have a keen interest in this engine, as I would like to one day import my own artwork into its system and create an independent title. However, since most of my drawings are not on my computer, I thought i'd use Shenmue images in it's replacement whilst i learn the language.

This game is very simple and not very deep, as it was something I just threw together whilst learning ren'py. Throughout the game, you will see a lot of unusual events that may NOT seem very "Shenmuish". Again, this is because I was trying different aspects out within the ren'py engine. Dont expect nothing groundbreaking

SHENMUE CHRONICLES CHAPTER 1 (RYO'S STORY) Beta V1.01

http://i41.tinypic.com/r0bguq.jpg

PLOT

After dealing with the Mad Angels, Ryo prepares himself for his long awaited trip to Hong Kong. The following day, he learns that Nozomi has been kidnapped again! Ryo teams up with 4 of his friends in order to rescue her. Can he find Nozomi before he has to leave the country?

This will be a 30 - 45 minute game featuring some of our favorite Shenmue characters. The story will take place after the 70 man battle, and be an alternative take on how Shenmue 1 ended.

FAQS

What Are The Controls?

The game is played with the mouse.
1) Left click = continues to the next section
2) right click = access menu (save , load, options, full-screen/window etc)

How Do I Play This Game

Read the dialog on the screen. Whenever you see the blinking arrow, left click to continue. At some points you will be asked to make choices. Choose carefully :)

How Many Endings Does This Game Have?

The game has 2 endings......one good, and one bad. It will be interesting to see which one you guys get lol.

This Game Contains To Much Text And Is Boring

That's visual games for you. You either love them or hate them. I recommend taking your time with the game. Read carefully and slowly.....and don't rush through it.

Spelling And Grammar Mistakes.

Yep, I'm aware of most of the mistakes. But this is a Beta/Demo, so it does have its fair share of issues. This will be fixed in the final version. Unfortunately, I don't have the time at the moment to proof read everything.

Some Images Are Medium To Low Quality?

Most of the game has fairly decent images. However, in some instances, there are medium to low quality pictures. This is mainly seen with Nagashima and Eri. This will be fixed in the final version.

My Screen Resolution Doesn't Support This Game?

This game was created in a 800 x 600 format. If you encounter black borders on either side of the screen, adjust your screen resolution on the desktop (right click on desktop and press on properties or screen resolution).

Can I Play This In Fullscreen?

You can, but you will more than likely notice the low quality images and bad sprite rips. I recommend playing in window mode if you're a graphics or perfectionist whore. :) To run in fullscreen mode, right click to access the options menu, click on preferences, and click full screen. (You must have a fairly decent direct x driver installed, otherwise the game will crash when going fullscreen)

The Game's Font Doesn't Work On My Computer

This game uses the "Arlrdbd" font. Download it here and follow the instructions on the site to install the font.
http://www.fontsupply.com/fonts/A/Arlrdbd.html

I've Encountered An Error

Refer to the FAQs or send me a PM.

You've Included My Work And Given Me A Shoutout

There are various shout-outs and nods to some dojo members and youtubers in the game........mainly when Ryo goes to sleep. I did this out of respect, as i wanted this to be a community project for everyone on the dojo. If you have a problem with the inclusion of your work, let me no and I'll get rid of it.

Thanks For The Shoutout

No problem. Keep up the awesome work.

Why Didn't I Have A Shoutout?

Everyone on the dojo will get a shoutout in the final game.

Thanks For Making This

No problem. This is my Christmas present to the Shenmue Community

Where Are The Fight Scenes?

There are no fight scenes in the demo. Wait for the fullgame.

This Game Sucks, You Suck

Love you to. Remember, this is something I just threw together. It's not suppose to be taken seriously. Hopefully next year, we can all work on a game together to make it extra awesome.

Distribution

Please do not share the links or reupload them. Link people to this thread. This is a Beta test for hardcore shenmue fans to try out, enjoy, and give feedback in order to make the final product amazing. Please respect these terms.

What Do You Still Need To Work On?

Ha, tons of stuff. sprites, scripts, grammar checks, importing a Shenmue user interface, audio, fight scenes, extra characters, animation, intro, ending etc. This is nowhere near finished.

When's The Final Version?

For those who actually enjoyed the game, the final version will be much MUCH bigger. (New areas, characters, sequences, fight scenes, voice clips, choices, UI etc) The game will go past Shenmue 1.... and on to a certain ship :)
Final version coming 2014.

Have You Got Any Other Projects Like This?

I have many different Shenmue Demo's, but this was the only one that was in a half decent state

How Can I Say Thank You And Support Shenmue

1)Give this thread a thumbs up and thank you
2)Buy the Ryo Hazuki first four figure statue
3)Buy Ryo DLC in sonic racing transformed
4)Buy Shenmue clothing from insertcoin
5)join TeamYu.net to save Shenmue
6)Sign up to the ShenmueDojo, ShenmueMaster Website.
7)Subscribe to ziming and AdamKoralik's youtube channels.

Streaming for Shenmue

I'd like some honest opinions and input. I've had a PVR for a while now and finally came across Open Broadcaster, an open source program for live streaming. I was using X-Split though it's pay service and convoluted nature really turned me off. I did some test streams via Open Broadcaster and they came out great. I just ordered a clip mic so I could clearly present my voice while listening and even talking via my gaming headset seamlessly. I'm happy to have the hardware for leisure purposes, though with it all in place started to think of some bigger things I could do.

I was thinking of doing some scheduled broadcasts on a per disc basis, in order not to burn out and make it easier and more enjoyable for viewers. It'd also give it a chance to catch on. The great thing here is I have the PVR-1 which allows, composite, s-video and most of all component. I have the transcoder to go from VGA to component from my old set up (just posted it in another thread) thus the stream would be the official Dreamcast version running original GD-Rom discs in crystal clear fashion. There's something said for running the original software via the original hardware in an upgraded fashion versus emulation streams and I think many would appreciate it.

Just gaining interest here because like anything and everything in this community, it takes support from all ends. Presented in the right manner and promoted properly, this could be a great awareness event for our Tweetathon's, community and overall ambitions in general.

Re: Shenmue Postmortem scheduled for March 19, 2014 2pm-3pm

It's been pointed out on Facebook that San Francisco will actually be in daylight savings time by the 19th, so all international time zone comparisons should be made with PDT, not PST.

The UK for example doesn't enter daylight savings until later in the month, so the postmortem begins at 9pm there instead of the previously thought 10pm.

Shenmue Undub [Japanese Speech Mod] [CD-R 80/99/GDI]

http://kogami.free.fr/Photo/Shenmue/logo.jpg

Shenmue is a 1999 adventure video game developed by Sega AM2 and published by Sega for the Dreamcast, produced and directed by Yu Suzuki. Suzuki coined a genre title for its nonlinear gameplay, "FREE" (Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment), for the game, based on the interactivity and freedom he wanted to give to the player. Suzuki intended to achieve this by simulating aspects of real life through the game, such as the day and night system, real-time variable weather effects (unheard of in a game of this kind at the time), fully voiced non-player characters with their own daily schedules, quick time events, and various other interactive elements such as vending machines, arcades, and convenience stores.

This version made by me offers users the ability to play Shenmue with Japanese voices and English subtitles. I used the official English translation for this undub version, but the Japanese version of Shenmue contains more dialogue, there is approximately 3% of Japanese text retained in my version (I have not yet managed to find a translator that is able to translate the remaining Japanese sentences into English for me).

I used the translation from "US Shenmue" to make this Undub version.

For this release, I copied all the necessary directories (Sound + Japanese Subtitle) into a PAL ISO for Shenmue and I changed most of the Japanese text into English one line at a time. Thanks to the translation tools that Sizious released.

The advantage of this method:
-Less errors/Synchronization bugs (lip sync)
-The subtitles for the dialogue are in good working order in the game
-I replaced the designs of the vending machines with the original Japanese versions
-For the CD-R 80 version, I downsampled some of the voices to avoid deleting any audio from the game (as a result all of the characters have speech)

Unfortunately, there is still some Japanese text in the script (3%) Because the Japanese script contains more text than the English script, and I am not able to translate them (This only concerns the NPCs).

Thus this version of Shenmue Undub corrects some of the errors that plagued Smiths version.

Two version are available (CD-R 80 and CD-R 99) with some difference to make it fit in the appropriate sizes,

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shenmue Undub "Disc 1" [PAL-E] (CD-R 80):
-I downsampled the NPC audio only (not cutscene) in FREE01.AFS from 14000hz to 11025hz.
-The language menu and text is in English only.

Shenmue Undub "Disc 2" [PAL-E] (CD-R 80):
-I downsampled the NPC audio only (not cutscene) in FREE02.AFS from 14000hz to 8000hz.
-The language menu and text is in English only.

Shenmue Undub "Disc 3" [PAL-E] (CD-R 80):
-I downsampled the NPC audio only (not cutscene) in FREE03.AFS from 14000hz to 8000hz.
-The language menu and text is in English only.
-Arcade game remove (Hang On/Space Harrier)
-Track CDDA remove ("Wish..." song motorcycle cutscene)

Shenmue: TGE RPG Fan Game

Hi everyone, I just wanted to stop by and let everyone know that I've released a new demo of the Shenmue fan game I started like 10 years ago and only lately got inspired to work on again. Based on our movie, Shenmue: The Gang Edition RPG is built in RPG Maker 2003 and lets you guide Ryo on his bloodthirsty quest for vengeance. The old demo ended once you left Sakuragaoka, but I've added Dobuita now and advanced the story for like 10 more minutes of gameplay, lol. If you want to get nostalgic and explore the world of the first Shenmue as if it was designed by a 5th grader, then head over to http://www.gangentertainment.org/stuff.html and give it a try!

Re: Shenmue 2 Special coins

Silver medal can be obtained by stalking two young girls then beating the fuck out of them in a secret room at the arcade. You need to befriend a foul-mouthed duck by grabbing one of it's feathers and participate in an illegal gambling rink by using your psychic powers to take control of your new friend's body in order to win gold.

Ren, killed by Ryo's hands?

http://cdn.escapistmagazine.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/698/698943.jpg

So, how about these concept artworks? I haven't been this interested nor pissed off in a long time. I'm vehemently against spoilers, yet hungry for even a shard of new Shenmue information. It's a shame we have to see such major spoilers before playing the game (IF we ever do see it in action), but it's oh so intriguing. On the bright side however, these concepts may slightly differ from the final version. Even if they don't, they're vague enough that much is still left to be discovered.

On to the topic at hand... I posted about this on the 500K Facebook page as well, but I figured it was time to reappear on the Dojo because this theory is worth spreading. My theory is that a deceased Ren is being carried off by Akira (Ryo) in the 10th concept image. More importantly, Ren has been killed by the hands of his friend, Akira. Firstly, at the top left corner of image 9, that's an alternately dressed Ren. In the background, a horde of people appear to be charging after Akira for an epic battle. Is Ren leading these people into battle, or is he there for Akira? Remember the concept art of Ren on a horse? It's possible that the Chiyoumen could entice Ren with promises of riches if he joins them. I would say he's there to support Akira, but who knows. They succeed in this battle apparently, defeating Lan Di as Yu Suzuki so wonderfully spoiled for us. That's assuming Lan Di didn't already meet his demise long before this scene.

http://cdn.escapistmagazine.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/698/698955.jpg

So what next? As you can see by the map, this epic battle depicted in image 9 occurs somewhere in Western China. In concept image 10, Akira is holding someone's apparent lifeless body. I'm convinced by the clothing that it's Ren as seen in image 9, minus the bandana. If you'll notice, Akira is now ironically wearing a white headband (to honor his former friend?). What happened? If the epic battle is over and Ren didn't perish there, what killed him in the following chapter 10 that appears to take place far away near Beijing (?). I'm thinking after Lan Di's defeat, Ren and Ryo now have access to both mirrors, and Ren's desire to unlock the treasures of the Qing Dynasty overcomes him. According to Master Chen, there will be trouble if those two mirrors come together. Whether that's in the form of a mythical beast resurrecting on Earth, or that's simply a metaphor for something else very grim, I think it's something that needs to be avoided. Akira may have no choice but to stop Ren, which is why he's still honoring his friend with the headband, and the fact that he's clasping his body doesn't signify a hate-filled battle.

If you'll remember, there's a flashback scene in Shenmue I where little Ryo gets into a fight with a friend at school. Iwao tells him, "A friend you can trust is a true friend indeed." I believe this flashback has a lot of significance, since everyone warns Ryo that Ren isn't exactly trustworthy. It shows in his incessant talk of money, and his giddiness towards the Qing Dynasty treasure. It's obvious that Ryo and Ren have grown closer by the end of Shenmue II, but Ren still may not be the most honest and loyal friend in the world. Thoughts?

What is missing:
Wude's updated Wish Road Hack

Where I want to go from here:
I REALLY want to just make an Ultimate Shenmue 1 CDI.

For the next release I want to include:
All What's Shenmue maps with hacked ECAM hex for free roam to bypass the in game area restrictions.
Wude's Updated Wish Road hack with frozen timer
My Bike Mod. Yes, it is actually in a finished alpha state.

Thanks to all involved with releasing the beta!

NullDC 1.0.4 r150 with Shenmue fixes by masterchan777

Hello everyone,

The latest build of nullDC has a couple of bugs that affect the gameplay of Shenmue, one of those bugs causes the emulator to randomly crash at some points during the gameplay of Shenmue II, and the other bug produces a really annoying high-pitch buzzing sound when playing What's Shenmue with CDDA Audio enabled.

I managed to fix both bugs, recompiled and uploaded the fixed nullDC r150 :

http://youtu.be/t_ugtRweKIo

I think it's the best version of nullDC out there, especially for Shenmue, since it has all the advantages of the latest release as well as the newly implemented fixes, give it a try if you like and let me know what you think.

Update :
A version with a different background art :

new background art made by : brad86

Note : I highly recommend deleting nullDC.cfg file, this will reset nullDC's settings back to default. You also need to install BOTH X64 and x86 versions of VS 2013 Dll files. which can be grabbed from this link : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Thanks for your time.

Re: Ren, killed by Ryo's hands?

well done for matching the statue with the one from akira/pai's stage in virtua fighter 2. does anyone know what it is? seems that it must be quite a significant object to depict it.
Apparently, that's the Iron Lion Statue in Cangzhou.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af167/Kiyuu/DSC03915.jpg

I found this image in the website of Tetsuya Hattori, the martial-art actor/advisor of Shenmue.
This picture was taken with his Bajiquan master Wu Lianzhi when he visited Meng Cun.

You can learn more about the statue from the Wiki page here:

There you go. Notice the Lion's statue in episode VIII. You may have to zoom in.

Re: Release: Shenmue Beta: All Playable Beta Maps + WS Maps

Wow thanks for this.

After playing it for a while I absolutley prefer the beta version over the final, specially Sakuragaoka, the trees and vegetation... , it looks more organic in the beta opposed to how blocky looks in the final game.

Not sure why they changed it.

Release: Shenmue Beta with All Playable Beta Maps (OUTDATED)

UPDATE: THIS RELEASE IS NOW OUTDATEDD. PLEASE USE MY EXPLORATION MOD RELEASE!
http://www.shenmuedojo.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=47225

Hi all,

I know I have been releasing a couple of these cdi files.

The last one with all of the beta maps was emu only since it was too big for a 99 min CD-R.

Well here is my answer to that. \:D/

This release is a version of the Shenmue Beta from Shendream with the beta maps now playable.

Credit to this mod goes to Wude, he did all of the hex editing. I am merely releasing this out to the public.

--Beta Sakuragaoka
--Wish Road

What can this be played on?
-Confirmed on
--Dreamcast Hardware (CD-R NTSC)
--DEMUL (Windows)
--NullDC (Windows)
--Reicast (HTC One Android 4.4.2 Rooted)

How can I play?
-Hardware
--Burn cdi as RAW DAO (burn confirmed with Alcohol 120%)

How do I load the Beta Maps?
-From Debug Menu
--Beta Yamanose
Continue NO/OFF
Scene 01
Area JU00
Entry 00

--Beta Sakuragaoka
Continue NO/OFF
Scene 01
Area JD00
Entry 01

--Wish Road
Continue NO/OFF
Scene 01
Area D000
Entry 01
Note: Run towards Mountains to get to the road

Note about beta maps
These were made playable by fusing these maps with their retail counterparts. Fusing map data to make it walkable.

These replace the maps, making the game unplayable. This is more for the purpose of seeing the beta maps yourself.

Enjoy Everyone! \:D/
