Lovely! China is still my most wanted place to visit. I'm currently saving up money for a trip to Hong Kong and other locations in China, including Guilin, Jiangxi, and Kowloon Walled City Park. I'll have to use my imagination when standing around in Kowloon, of course, but it will be interesting to be there and see the yamen and other things preserved there.

I'm not sure if this was a sarcastic comment implying that people will buy anything, regardless of quality, as long as it's cyberpunk buuuttttttt.... I'm like that. Can't get enough of that cyberpunk, where did it go since the 90's? Now everybody wants things impractically powered by steam. Even games are steampowered... haha...

It's still stupid. I'd understand if they were well sized, well placed and had little Christmas hats on, but it looks a random mess. Sorry Ryudo, but you deserve to be shot for this.

Damn dude, it doesn't look that bad. Maybe you would have preferred he hung these on the tree instead.

Re: Wii U

Thank you, I noticed that too, I mean if you really want one you can find one online within 2-3 minutes. This isn't a hot item.

And yet, when the system had first come out, a buddy of mine made $1800 profit off of his five Wii U units, one of which sold for $1200. If only people would wait a few days for their new (same) mario game...

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

The only reason I want rare back with Nintendo is because of Banjo, and I imagine Nintendo would fully support a 3D platformer Banjo-Kazooie. Even if Rare isn't the developer, I'm sure there are plenty of people who are capable of making a good Banjo game.

Believe me, I was there when gamestop opened for Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, and the employee looked at me like I was retarded and said, "You know, the shipment doesn't come in until noon... so come back later...". The game is good but a huge departure from the rest of the series, and not what I would have preferred.

Banjo-Threeie is up there with Mega Man Legends 3, Chrono Break, and even Shenmue 3 for my most wanted games. If Nintendo can make it happen then I would be all for it. Of course, I've been talking as if this rumor isn't complete shit but whatever, :P

I'm not so much concerned about Rare but their IPs... and really only Banjo.

Re: What Game/Games Are You Currently Playing?

Nice! I've never gotten a chance to play that but I've always wanted too. Since school's ended for the winter (and Dreamfall Chapters was recently announced to be in development) I've been playing The Longest Journey again.

http://i.imgur.com/1TQbE.jpg

The game is amazing, one of the best adventure games out there, in my opinion. However, it's made me want to go back and play some of the great Adventure games I never got a chance to play, such as Psychonauts and Grim Fandango.

EDIT:

Also for anybody who wants to share my hype

Mystery House

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrH4AJ_q7FA

I've played King's Quest games and, of course, Space Quest :) but I haven't played too many others. I might just end up skipping most and just picking either the King's Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, Gabriel Knight, or Quest For Glory line of games. Considering I won't have time for everything... but yeah. I'm usually a bit too ambitious.

Well I just beat The Longest Journey for the second time and I love this song, it's a reminder of the great journey you've just had. The epilogue even makes me tear up a little... in a good way though. When April and Crow are sitting around to tell another story in their old age, remembering the great adventures they've had. It's all very romantic and grand and I love it. Time to play Dreamfall.

Re: Any other bronies on the dojo?

Those are obviously some pretty extreme cases and not every fan is going to be like that. I just don't really trust the "fuck bronie" mentality. People have seen these extreme cases of fandom and have extended it to the entire -- in this case male -- fanbase, which results in a "Twilight" effect. If only people would bother to see if the show is actually good, despite the fanatics. However, it's a trap. The minute you watch the show, say it's good (if you like it), you're deemed a bronie by a bunch of idiots with an inability to think for themselves. I should really watch the show soon; curiosity really gets the better of me sometimes.

I offered a co-worker of mine -- a black co-worker of mine -- the rest of my fried chicken when I was done with it. He freaked out. Am I racist? No, he's just being a dumb-ass. I'm not going to let stereotypes dictate what I do or who I offer my fried chicken to, and neither should this game; Far Cry 3 should be able to offer fried chicken to whomever it wants.

But you're essentially saying you have no choice, which isn't true.

If you really wanted to keep from killing the person you'd stop playing.

We are only bound by the rules we choose to be bound by, saying we're anything but free is untrue.

If we stop playing and get offended when are we ever going to encounter anything interesting? Sounds like an extreme case of censorship to me.

Games With Interesting & Immersive Stories/Settings

Over the years I've become extremely picky with my media. I'm usually on a constant quest for my next great video-game/uplifting experience, yet when I search the internet for "games with good stories" or something similar, I usually find lists filled with either the newest -- and not necessarily the greatest -- games released, or games that are talked to death (such as Ocarina of Time, or Shadow of the Colossus). I think Videogames have the ability to give some really profound experiences; whether it be the exciting and completely immersive setting in Shenmue, or an interesting way of making you feeling empathy for its characters like in Soul Blazer, or even the sadness you feel after the end of a grand adventure and a farewell to friends like in Chrono Trigger. I want that feeling of emotion that I've only gotten from very few games. So I guess this is a topic for games that make you feel... something; something hard to place but something worth noting. Sorry for being very vague.

Re: What movie are you watching right now?

Being a fan of the Tolkien Novels and The Lord of the RIngs films, I thought the Hobbit was pretty good. One thing people tend not to understand is that books -- as they are written -- make pretty poor films. Look at the first two Harry Potter movies for instance; they're pretty much a direct translation from book to film... and they suck  . From what I understand, this will be the last attempt at making films (at least from Peter Jackson & company) in middle earth and they want to go all out with as much material as they can. I can't imagine a couple years down the line we'll get The Silmarillion part one or anything.

To me, what's always been so appealing about middle earth is the intense amount of detail, it's never really been just "an unexpected journey" but more like a history lesson on foot. It doesn't help, however, that they started with the more interesting, and much more exciting of the books first. Assuming you've seen the first trilogy (and at this point who hasn't?) it ultimately makes the hobbit seem a little anti-climactic. So it makes sense that they want to pad the hobbit and make it more of an epic (which it really isn't). I do like how they're trying to set up the Lord of the Rings films in the Hobbit and I hope it will make for a nice flow from movie to movie, changing what was once a 12 hour experience into a good old fashion, 24 hours.

Oh, and I saw it in 24-fps because 48 sucks dick.

You could get the first Front Mission on DS. A mech/war turn based strategy game with a wonderful story/cast/world et cetera. I'm a fanboy for Front Mission... I guess.

Also, if you like Harvest Moon, the new one for 3DS (A New Beginning) is actually pretty good. Not Harvest Moon 64, Back to Nature, or Friends of Mineral Town good but still pretty good.

Would anybody here want to start a book club here at the dojo? We could take turns picking a novel for us to read over a week/2week/month period, whichever works best for everybody, and discuss. Sega Developed Game Lists

I've been wanting for a while to create lists for each of Sega's systems showing all the games developed by Sega on the console. I've started with the Sega Saturn because it's my favorite sega console and it's also not too large. So far I've completed the NA games on the saturn (I think... tell me if I'm missing anything or if I'm wrong) and I'm moving on to the Pal and NTSC-J games on the system. It's kind of tedious work though...

Anyway, for anybody interested here is the list of games.

SEGA SATURN NTSC-U:

Astal

Black Fire
Blazing Heroes (aka Mystaria: The Realms of Lore)

Virtual-On: Cyber Troopers: Netlink Edition

Winter Heat
World Series Baseball
World Series Baseball II
World Series Baseball '98
Worldwide Soccer: Sega International Victory Goal Edition
*Also there's some demo discs*

I went ahead and omitted any games that had segasoft involvement, those games would have been Bug Too!, Scud: The Disposable Assassin, and Three Dirty Dwarves. I'm going to go ahead and start compiling the import Sega games for Saturn and then probably move onto the Dreamcast next.
