At least they have started to acknowledge their shortcomings...of the last decade. Suppose they could start with something small, like Shenmue HD

Browsing over the Mac request thread got me thinking.

Destiny has a companion app and I look at it daily. I constantly transfer gear to and from my vault, look at my character stats, my friends characters, browse forums and more.

What if Shenmue III had one? Put it on iOS/Android and offer features like:

• View game progress
• View notebook and flip pages
• View photos you've taken in-game
• View move scrolls and practice while you're on-the-go (updates Ryo in-game)
• Mini-games (Lucky Hit would be amazing!)
• View discovered maps
• Connect to forums (here would be nice)

I'm sure there's lots more ideas but these are off the top of my head. I'd absolutely love to be somewhere on the go, listening to the Shenmue III soundtrack in my earbuds and engaging with this app.

Thoughts?

Edit- I just thought of the perfect name for it: Shenmue Passport. Like the spirit of the original passport, put some of those ideas into the app as well.

Joel Tess from Awesome reached out to me via Youtube Messages and told me that Yu Suzuki had seen my video and loved it and that he wanted to use it on the Kickstarter page. Once I emailed him about it and said I'd love to do that, my video was shown to SEGA who requested that the arcade footage was taken out and that copyright notices were put in. (I also received request to change the logo but I'm unsure if that's Sega's doing of if it's a personal choice of Yu Suzuki). Once the final version was made I emailed it to Joel Tess who put it up on the page.

I was in touch with Dreamcaster's Tube when I first put the original video up and he said that he's ok with people using his footage as long as they credit him in the description. I'm not taking credit for his work.

"These goals can only be achieved through Kickstarter" is to encourage people to pledge and clear up the fact that Sony and others contributions likely wont be enough to cover any stretch goals.

Anyway, thank you guys for the amazing words. I never thought it would get this far and I feel really honored to be acknowledged by Yu Suzuki and Awesome Japan :D

I am making this thread as a placeholder.

I am building a mod team for Shenmue 3.

So it runs on Unreal Engine, so I am going to start converting all of the S1 and S2 textures to be readable in UDK.

They will come handy when S3 is out and we want to start tinkering with it.

Saw someone mention it on the Gaf and seemed like a good shout to peeps on here.

To avoid hassle with fraud protection/paperwork etc. it may be wise for people to notify their bank that there will be a large amount of money heading out to a foreign (in some cases) company in a weeks time, since we don't have a Shenmue III Kickstarter every month do we? :P

Also, I was honestly n00bish about the exchange rate. I think we can point this out to other UK gamers. Even though it clearly says "dollars" its been like "pounds" in my head all this time.

Hey guys, this was just a little idea that crossed my mind. I'm sure many of the people here are familiar with this guy, his musical talent, and the sad news of his passing. I never knew the dude, I never commented on his videos, I never gave his video a thumbs up, I even don't know a thing about him. I just remember listening to his music, many years ago. I also learned his arrangement of Shenmue on piano because I liked it so much (and boy do I pale in comparison...). In light of Shenmue III's announcement, it has been rather sad to remember he'll not be around for it.

My idea was, wouldn't it be cool if his arrangement could be implemented into Shenmue III some how? Maybe we could pass the idea along to Cedric Biscay for consideration. That way his passion for the game and its music could live on and be heard by the many thousands who will play Shenmue III. Or perhaps even using his actual performance in the credits or something? (it's surprisingly high quality for a 2007 youtube video).

Anyhow, just throwing that idea out there. I just thought it would be cool to see. It would be really inspiring to know his arrangement or performance of the Shenmue theme blaring through the speakers in homes across the world.

This idea that everyone should donate said amount of money is a ridiculous one. If people are supporting with whatever they can, good on them. People need to stop stressing themselves out of the "what ifs" and just appreciate that we have Shenmue 3 now. PayPal after the Kickstarter is over is a possibility. So is Shenmue HD. I honestly am finding some of this talk about the Kickstarter really toxic (many times I've seen people on here just turn on each other and say some horrible or stupid things) and at this stage now, will be glad once it's all finally over, quite honestly.

People should just be happy, for fuck's sake. This is the best time for Shenmue fans... in almost 15 years. Get some perspective, people.

I think we will still be number 1 KS game and I think we will also have something really to be proud of at the end of this thing.

My company definitely monitors what we view online. I don't think they do it actively. Just if they're having problems with some people being on Facebook. They've only confronted one person I know of but that's because she wasn't doing her job. I do my job and keep any personal browsing to a minimum once my work is done. My direct boss is the president and owner of the company so he knows I do my work.

So as many of you may know by now, one of our community's greatest contributors Wude has been missing for a year. Due to the relatively high frequency of his activity, and in the face of the Shenmue III Kickstarter, this is clearly uncharacteristic of our fellow member, and many of us have come to fear the worst.

However, whether he is active or not, Wude remains one of the most well-revered and highly respected of us here at the Shenmue Dojo, becoming a pioneer in the modding community along with the likes of Master Kyodai and Dotsona, playing just as vital a role as LanDC had during the previous generation.

In his absence, myself and others have banded together to ensure his name is forever immortalised in the credits of Shenmue III, as there are few who are as deserving to receive such an honour. However, many of us feel that being lost amongst thousands of other names does not do him justice, and are therefore launching a last-minute minute campaign of our own to make sure that happens.

Out aim is to get Wude's name in the Choubu Inn guestbook, at a pricely $600.

We enter this campaign at the $100 mark, meaning we need another $500 to snare the SHENMUE GUESTBOOK reward tier. All finances are being handled by site administrator Yama and YouTube channel manager Ziming via the Shenmue Dojo's PayPal account.

All you have to do is donate to the Dojo the usual way using PayPal and include your username and the message "FOR WUDE!".

"But why should I pay money for a guy I don't even know?" I hear you ask... Well, simple really. This is a campaign for Shenmue III's Kickstarter, and what would a KS campaign be without reward tiers?

Altough I am jobless right now I can't help myselft and up pledge form $29 to $80.

Its hard guys, and i am not saying this from a pressure point of view, but i sold everything bar my clothes, bed, sofa, Shenmue collection, tv and Xbox one (although the xbox can go if necessary) to get up the maximum possible amount, and when i did and had the cash in my hand...... Shenmue means that much to me that it gave me easily a more exhilirating feeling than ive had with my old PS3, Gamecube, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Saturn etc. My items from my gaming collection are in better hands now and the money to gladly give Yu and Shenmue 3 is profoundly more valuable and emotional than me just owning a bunch of items.

Just to see and hold Shenmue 3 in my hands before putting it into the console.... thats gonna be worth more than anything that money can buy.

One thing I have seen trip people up with pre-paid visa cards is not reading the small print. Essentially, to use them online, you have to go to a website listed in the little piece of paper that comes with the card, there you open an account complete with user id and password, then you give the details that you would supply to a vendor if the card was just like a normal one, basically your name and address. Once that is done you can use the card with virtually any online service that accepts visa payments, they don't even need to know if it is a pre-paid card.
