This Sunday, December 3rd, Shenmue fans are invited to participate in the monthly #SaveShenmueHD Tweetathon by posting the hashtag on Twitter and/or customizing a preloaded message at TeamYu.net for automatic release on the day.

The campaign aims to publicly remind Sega of the need for new versions of the first two Shenmue games in time for Shenmue 3 's release. With Sony's PlayStation Experience only a week away, another opportunity presents itself to announce remasters at a major industry event. Will the chance to introduce new players to Ryo's quest for vengeance be seized before 2017 comes to a close? Now's our collective opportunity to spread the word and be heard on the 3rd!

A primary school for underprivileged children in Guilin, China, has recently received a donation of 166 books, paid for by Chinese fans of the Shenmue series of video games partly set in the remote area. [Read more]

It's the latest chapter in a remarkable story that began during Shenmue III's Kickstarter campaign in 2015. Two American brothers volunteering at the elementary school donated substantial personal funds to the crowdfunding appeal, hoping to use the associated perks to draw wider attention to the school and its needs.

Before such rewards could even be finalized, media coverage of their intentions caught the eyes of the Chinese Shenmue fan community, which set about honoring the brothers' contributions to the game by donating equipment and materials to the school.

In December of that year, 200 books were delivered to the young children, followed in May 2016 by a brand new projector. One fundamental snag, however: the school's bare external windows made the classroom too bright to see the projections - so by the end of the year fans had also donated curtains!

The latest donation of a further 166 books really highlights the scale of compassion and generosity inspired by Yu Suzuki's Shenmue saga, with a fan community so committed to giving these kids in Guilin a better start in life.

At the recent MAGIC Monaco event Yu Suzuki granted several interviews with representatives of the Shenmue fan community.

Amongst the outlets honored with the chance to extract more information from Suzuki-san on Shenmue 3 was the Shenmue 500K group on Facebook, whose interview is now available to read in full on their website Shenmue500K.net .

Topics include: character design, flashback scenes, sound effects, large-scale battles, the new combat system, fishing, and conflicting backer demands!

Shenmue Forever and Team Yu had the honor of interviewing Yu Suzuki at MAGIC 2018 about Shenmue III, and also met a number of supporters of the #SaveShenmueHD campaign!

Hello Dojo! As you're probably aware by now, Shenmue I+II are available to preorder , which brings a close to the #SaveShenmueHD campaign. So what happens next?

This Thursday, May 3rd, marks the 75th edition of the monthly Shenmue Tweetathon, so there's no better opportunity as an organized community to celebrate #ShenmueSaved, the hashtag chosen by Sega to promote their upcoming release. There'll also be giveaways throughout the day on the @TeamYu Twitter account, posing questions based on the Campaign Timeline available on the newly updated TeamYu.net .

With the campaign project reaching its conclusion, from June onwards fans are invited to continue tweeting an all-purpose #Shenmue hashtag every 3rd to help promote the series in a viral fashion, attracting new interest in Shenmue I+II and Shenmue III to drive sales and support the future of the franchise. Above all, it's just a really fun way to connect with other fans around the world and share in our enthusiasm for a legendary video game, so it would be wrong to let the tradition go to waste now that the campaign is over. We can all just enjoy it now, as it's become as much a part of being a Shenmue fan as looking for sailors and drinking soda in a very particular way. :)
