Oh I've got to be on topic? uhhh well. Regardless of if his tools changed or ir if his fingers got cut off, or if he had some kind of epiphany. His TOOLS changed, which is to be expected.

Personally I'm down with the 80/90s anime look because it was more vibrant to me.

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

^ just curious, which is your favorite?
EVO. It really is balanced. VF5FS is so unbalanced that it feels like Tekken at times. People just assume it's balanced because that's a part of VF's lore. If only they actually knew how much bullshit AM2 spawned with FS. Jacky is totally broken. His frames and DMG are ridiculous and there's an army of people who use the same set-ups for him because they are simply so safe and powerful that it's pretty much like turning god mode ON. Wallsplats are almost as bad as in Tekken 4. You can do almost infinities with them.

The game plays great... as long as you're not facing somebody who actually knows and abuses the broken frames and hitboxes...

Re: Gaming thoughts of the day

Game Republic founder/director Yoshiki Okamoto comes out of hiding to reveal he has retired from the game industry and is now "making mobile phone games".

Video game creator Yoshiki Okamoto, the man behind Time Pilot, 1942, Final Fight, and Street Fighter 2, says he's retired from the business of making console video games.

Following the closure of his studio Game Republic, where he developed moderate successes like Folklore and two Genji titles for Sony, the famed game designer and producer tells Polygon he's now working on mobile games. His first mobile title, a "secret" game, he says, will be released in the near future, he says.

"I have retired," Okamoto said during an interview in Tokyo this week. "That's what I'm told to say [by my boss]."

Okamoto won't actually say who he's working for. But he believes that mobile games, not traditional, increasingly risky console games, are the path to his future success.
Quote:
Okamoto got out of the business of making video games for consoles when his studio, Game Republic, closed its offices last year. The company still exists, he says, but Okamoto is its only employee.

"Game Republic has not gone away, but we ran out of money," he explained. "So I had to let go of everybody."

At its peak, Game Republic employed about 300 people. The company was hit hard financially after the closure of publisher Brash Entertainment. The studio was developing a video game adaptation of Clash of the Titans for Brash and when the publisher folded in 2008, Game Republic lost "a large amount of money."

"But of course we had made the decision to go with Brash Entertainment," Okamoto says, shouldering some of the blame. Okamoto also pointed to the weakened global economy at the time, adding "It wasn't totally their fault."

"There were a lot of things I wanted to accomplish [at Game Republic]," Okamoto says, including a sequel to PlayStation 3 game Folklore, "But I need a sponsor to create those games." Even mobile titles, Okamoto says, require an investment of more than $600,000 to have a chance at success.

Quentin Tarantino is finally making Kill Bill Vol. III Tarantino revealed he wants part 3 to take place 10 years after the events of Kill Bill Vol.2, presumably so that Vernita Green’s daughter (Nikki) can be old enough to track down The Bride (Uma Thurman/Black Mamba) to get revenge for killing her mother right in front of her. Vernita Green (portrayed by Vivica A. Fox), A.K.A. Copperhead, was a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. She took part in the massacre at the Two Pines Wedding Chapel. She was second on The Bride’s “Death List Five.” Four years after the massacre she is living a normal life in Pasadena, Ca. under the alias of Jeanie Bell. She was trained in hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting, and it is hinted that she and The Bride shared a mutual, professional respect for each other. At the start of the first movie, they engage in a vicious fight, destroying Vernita’s living room in the process. However, Green’s four-year-old daughter Nikki arrives home in the middle of the fight, and they stop fighting since the Bride doesn’t want to kill Vernita in front of her young daughter. Green sends Nikki to her room and she talks with the Bride over coffee, apologizing for betraying her and asking for mercy on behalf of her family. The Bride coldly refuses and they agree to meet in the middle of the night to have a knife fight. However, Vernita betrays her promise, and tries to shoot the Bride with a handgun concealed within a cereal box (aptly named Kaboom). She misses and the Bride throws a knife into her heart, killing her. Her death is witnessed by Nikki which the Bride had not intended. The Bride tells Nikki, “When you grow up, if you still feel raw about it, I’ll be waiting.” Well, looks like Copperhead’s daughter (secretly trained by the eye-patch wearing Elle, who we learn didn’t actually die in that trailer) is going to attempt to exact a bloody revenge! Oh, and let’s not forget that The Bride also had a four year old daughter. I have a feeling that these lil b*tches are going to be going at it H.A.M.!

You know what’s so uncomfortable about this? It shows that perhaps one of the most evil men in history, was a human being. That, on occasion, he could be nice, even flirty. That’s not all. You want to see evil people as evil, screaming horrible stuff over a desk with 20 microphones with 20, 000 people saluting them. The evil is clear and recognizable then. This shows a completely different image, it scares you because that means that evil isn’t a stereotype, that evil is not recognizable, that evil could be anyone. It scares you because this shows that evil could be lurking inside anyone and you’ll never ever know. Maybe in you?

Re: dev comment of the day topic

You're completely right that we shouldn't have a classification stamped on our heads at all times.

There are people who will immediately see the depth of the game and will enjoy it for that reason, however there are also people who will not understand what makes the game good at first glance but they recognize the base reasons something is fun.

Still lets look at OL and Dorian . Both men enjoy action games and have an undeniable passion for the genre.

OL enjoys the more stylistic and aesthetic aspect of the games. He gets into games like Blood Will Tell and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams and Enslaved. These games are all great but all very shallow. Its not to say OL dosen't recognize depth, it just seems like its not a priority to him. I think if I handed him Ninja Gaiden Black and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams he's take Onimusha and call it a day. He's the kind of player you need to capture with aesthetics and accessibility, once you've got them you can introduce them to the depth by offering rewards specifically for higher difficulties.

Dorian is completely different. He likes em when they're pretty, but it seems he really likes games to be deep and offer a challenge. This is the kind of guy who picks up Bayonetta, Devil May Cry 3, and Ninja Gaiden:Black and puts the game on hard. This is also the base customer, wanting more Dorian will keep buying a series because he trusts a developer. Combos, freedom, challenge, variety and performance is what this crowd wants. They help a developer grow, they can help them look for new ideas and challenge themselves by trying to break the walls the developer has made. The best way to keep this kind of person is to continue offering depth and allowing them the freedom to continue learning and experimenting with a system.

Both are hardcore, and theres a way to make the majority of both happy, but developers keep trying to go one way or the other.
Large quantities of Intelligence detected. Now I'm really turned on.

Bigger, better and far more badass. The gameplay graphics are on Y4 level, though.

Two things I have personal problems with - the hunting part makes me feel really bad for that poor bear that was minding his own (natural) business and I don't like Kazuma's face this time around. He looks deformed, instead of simply looking older.

Other than that, it's gold.

Re: Yakuza series

Couldn't be looking forward to it any more than I am now. Most anticipated game for me right now.
Same here. I already love the graphics of Y4 so the polished Y5 is a sweet deal for me. I just can't stand all this propaganda about 'redefining the graphics'.

Screw the graphics talk, though. Just look at the goddamn game. They've added so much that my head is spinning! I am serious right now. I've never seen a sequel expanding so much on the established formula.

I need this game... a feeling that I didn't have for a very long time now.

Re: Wii U

Just stop making a big deal out of the fact that Wii U ports are better. No shit, Sherlock? It would be news if they were worse. They have a more powerful hardware and a shitload of feedback from users of the original versions. It's obvious they are going to make the games better. They would have been eaten alive if they didn't.

I love the JSR documentary that SEGA made as a bonus to JSRHD. A small-budget thingy, but it invoked a lot of warm feels. Great to see those guys alive and smiling. It also has a perfect summary for the historical and cultural background of JSR. My mental ovaries would explode if there was a video like this about Shenmue.

The good thing being, I don't need new jRPGs. The existing ones, especially the 90s ones, will suffice for me up until my death. I wouldn't mind a successful revolution in the genre, though.

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

Threatening others with suicide is the lamest shit ever, and you know why I can say it? Because I did in the past to my ex and that's the most disgusting thing in my life. I was beyond pathetic back then. Nobody has the right to bring things like this on others even in real life, let alone over the internet.

This is the age of martyrdom. People think that they should get something from others and that all the shit that's going down on them is so goddamn bad. Well, it doesn't work that way. We must learn to love ourselves like we've never known hurt before and stop relying on other people. If you find somebody who cares, then the better for you. Asking for it? It just breeds more problems for everybody.

Its not my fault no one wanted to answer my questions about doing the replica monado quests, which i still need an answer to *glares at dorian* then he wanted to go all off topic with it, and what kind of civil member of SD would I be if I just layed down and took that verbal lashing? Not I sir, not I.
What kind of an answer do you expect? Is it worth the time and effort gameplay-wise? Not really. You can storm the game with the default replica because the game is that easy. Did I get them? Yes, I got everything in the game. Monado Saga looks awesome and I liked seeing it in the cutscenes.

For a person who enjoys playing the game, getting it should be worth it by definition. Here's the fun fact - AG doesn't enjoy playing Xenoblade. He likes Xenoblade, but the doesn't like playing Xenoblade. Read his posts carefully. This would have been better as yet another boys anime. It's a mediocre game. Resonance of Fate has so much more class. Just saying.
