The Chiyoumen are a major crime organization based on the Chinese mafia. They are involved in drug and weapon and stolen artifact trafficking and have great influence over the Chinese government. They are lead by a mysterious leader called "Tian Di" or Tentei and have four executives in charge of 4 different regions or directions who are represented by the four heavenly beasts metaphorically. As for Master Baihu, it is highly unlikely we will meet him again. He is supposed to be the final test for Ryo to join the Yellowhead elite.

Lan Di => Dragon
Ziming => Tiger
Niao Sun => Phoenix
Unknown Master => Snake Tortoise

We know that Lan Di is the primary antagonist thus far, however, the back story of Shenmue is more complicated than meets the eye and involves various themes such as revenge and Chinese folklore (The Shenmue Tree and the legend of Bailu Village). We also have 3 other villians and a mysterious "god father" like figure who oversees the Chiyoumen's operations (Tentai). Hints and clues suggest that Niao Sun and Ziming are involved in Shenmue III's plot as Ryo is given the comma bead by Xiuying and the comic given. Lan Di will most likely not have been fought so soon in Shenmue III.

Many valuable questions must be answered in Shenmue III:

1. How did Iwao meet Sunming Zhao?
2. What did they do in Bailu village? Did they both train under the instructions of a village master?
3. Are we done with Yuanda Zhu's involvement in the story?
4. Will we ever meet up with Guizhang or Ren again?
5. Will Ryo have to visit this Meng Cun area, where Iwao is supposed to have killed Sunming?
6. What of Shenhua's stepfather?
7. What is the purpose of the sword of seven stars?
8. Would Lan Di of arrived in Bailu village already before Ryo get's there? And what exactly is Lan Di going to Bailu village for? Yuanda Zhu never fully explains.
9. What is Shenhua's real father's role/identity?
10. What connection did Shenhua's stepfather have with Sunming Zhao?
11. Will Ryo ever pay back Fuku-san for losing his lifesavings? (j/k)

Re: Shenmue Tweetathon & 70 Man Battle Competition Winner

Haha thanks guys! Can't believe some of you still remember me, it's been about 10 years i think :D...

Couldn't figure out my log in, I thought my username was jamesbrown, but i can't get it to work o0...anyways...it is me :D

Super happy that I won, I couldn't believe it...I must have been playing for like 6 hours straight for like 3 or 4 nights remembering all the different enemies, what works on them, and what doesn't, and to be honest, I think it was like the last 20 and the boss that I managed to take out pretty quick, cause watching the video back now, the start is slightly embarrassing haha, me running kicking thin air, hehe. But yea awesome stuff! I'm surprised that only 9 people entered?

Although I won't be crazy active, I hope to post again from time to time, especially since this competition reunited me with the game I love, and it's amazing community that has supported and stuck around this long. It's nice to still see some familiar names.

All the best guys, and thanks for putting on this comp, I really enjoyed it. I'd have bought the statue anyways, but this is fantastic!

Re: Shenmue 3 and E3 2013

Isn't this said every year?

Why give up when games have been getting sequels 26 years after the first. Games that just got released after 14 years. A re-rlease that has been asked off for over a decade. It's still possible it will come out eventually.

Re: XBox One

It seems apart from the 24 hr thing MS now have a set up similar to Steam with some other stuff that itunes and the amazon stores use so small hope they also do some Steam like deals.

They have improved recent deals on the 360 but that could be just a fire sale type thing for long time owners looking to upgrade this year?

Michael Pachter thinks publishers might actually wait a few years to start blocking used games. Personally I think they should have just worked out something better with stores, For instance no game can be traded in for its first 3-6 months on sale.[Which is when it sells the most anyways]

The Xbox One does not have a similar setup as Steam and it is a lame and stupid argument. The only thing similar is that Microsoft have built a digital distribution service, but they also tie it to psychical media that casts the illusion of game ownership.

You can not play offline on Xbox One for more than 24 hours.
You can play offline on Steam indefinitely.

You can not play the same game on at least two Xbox One consoles at the same time.
You can play the same game offline with Steam on as many PCs as you want.

There will most likely not be major sales on Xbox One. (GOD are almost the same price as new games MONTHS after release)
There are deep sales frequently on Steam. Some up to 95% off .

There will most likely not be any such thing as a Humble Bundle on Xbox One.
There are weekly and publisher focused Humble Bundles where you can set your own price point, and decide where your money goes in which you can access your game on Steam.

DRM is always required on the Xbox One.
There are games that have zero DRM on Steam, and you can even launch them while Steam is not running .

Microsoft services are the only markets for those wanting to get their games on the Xbox One, thus blocking competition.
On Steam there are various markets that offer competitive prices, forcing Steam to compete and offer better benefits.

You most likely will have to pay for a subscription service such as Xbox Live to gain any of the “features” such as digital distribution, cloud saving, playing online.
Game publishers set subscription models on Steam, a lot of them free. There's free cloud saving, and every other such benefits that Xbox One does not offer .

The Xbox One will probably cost over 300$
Steam costs 0.00$

Consoles are not known for modding (at least legitimately), and the Xbox One won't be the place to do it either.
Steam encourages modding, has SteamWorks for publishers and other free tools for developers and consumers such as free source engines, free film makers, free game tools .

The Xbox One does not offer backwards capability.
Steam offers full backwards capability , the software you have now and before will likely run on any computer as powerful or more powerful than the one it was originally installed on.

But somehow Xbox One is similar to steam. Apples are similar to oranges too, in that their fruit. Aside from that they're completely different.

Re: Have you given up or still hopeful?

I've been wrong about a lot of things in my life.. But i'm sure that Shenmue will see the light of day. It's too good of a damn story to just throw away. With these Next gen consoles there are no excuses why it shouldn't be great either, Hell port it to dreamcast and it will still be magic. I believe Yu-San wants to make it happen, I really do. Sega just hasnt made up their mind to put in production or maybe it is secretly in production who knows.. Shenmue will have its chance to shine and it will big time because I know that Sega will promote it very well to the mass media. I haven't given up yet, just impatient..

Re: UPDATE JUNE 2013 "Yu Suzuki & Shenmue at GDC"

Latest UPDATE: JUNE 2013 (This happened in March)

I actually met with Yu Suzuki again but this time @GDC 2013. (about 2 months ago)

And here are two pictures we got together :D

Pic 2

http://t.co/hZbRUWytGv

Pic 1

http://t.co/hZbRUWytGv

GDC 2013 is the same event as he met with Marc Cerny (perhaps, later on in the afternoon cuz we met at noon),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Cerny

For those who don't know (I know you know): Marc Cerny is lead architect of the Sony PlayStation 4 & the one who interviewd Yu back in GDC11 and he's a genius as well.

How we met?

I was doing my visit @GDC and had NO IDEA that Yu Suzuki might come to GDC 13,
so I was wondering around that I suddenly saw a familiar face @ a booth (he was almost invisible) xD
I waited for him to finish his visit while asking from the lady @the next booth to PLEASE GET READY TO TAKE OUR PIC!
She was like, who's he? I was like he's a GOD of gaming! (later after he left and She found out who was he, she said

"Oh, I love Virtua Cop" xD

She said Ok!, so Yu suddenly saw me xD AND remembered me from GDC11,

I was like Hello Suzuki san, I am Ali, long time no see!
He said, Oh! Hi, yes long time no see!

Sorry guys, can't remember the exact every line of our short conversation but anyhow:

I was like WOW! we didn't know you coming this year (especially after his GDC12 absence).
I was shocked to be able to find him accidentally between so many people!
I immediately asked him can we have a picture :)

So, that lady at the next booth took our picture and then I talked to Yu,

Like how are you doing?, when did you arrive?
He was I arrived just now in the city and I'm hungry xD
I'm glad that I met you again, we look forward your new games...we will be waiting.
(I think I mentioned that I still have his biz card from back in GDC11 too but I am sure he remembers)

Anyways, I told him once again, it was very nice to see him, and wish him good luck.

So I let him go to rest and eat *however he continued visiting the expo" :D

Funny how,

later on within half an hour I bumped into Hideo Kojima as well (AGAIN just like GDC11),
this was like a repeat of history! xD

However, I spotted Kojima when he came out from back of his GDC booth suddenly xD and while he was running for a sec, he went eye to eye with me, LMFAO xD I know he's even busier that Yu with all that MGS V, Fox Engine & etc flying around, so I didn't even bother to get any close to him till next time.

Well, after all , GDC is a biz event, not a fan event.

The day after, I saw Yu Suzuki and Cerny's pictures in media,
so I decided to do not post my meeting with him here, until I back to Dojo again cuz I knew you know he's been @GDC13.

My personal thoughts on the current Yu Suzuki and Shenmue's feature

All I know is Yu Suzuki is back, and making games, he just released his latest game on iTunes & Google App store (if you check his growing studio's web page http://www.ysnet-inc.jp/ you can find it and don't forget to get his game somehow and give it a high rank 5/5), here's also a video of the game I'm talking about:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43K6bd7tutQ

https://itunes.apple.com/jp/app/id574368185
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.entag.android.osusume_ninki_kaizoku_10237

But the question is now burning even more:

Has he have made any progress with Marc Cerny or someone from Nintendo or even MS for teaming up with SEGA to finally bring us a Complete Shenmue Experience on PS4 or any other console?

A deal between SEGA and Sony/MS/Nintendo must happen if SEGA doesn't want to tackle this single handed.

I believe SEGA can still pull it off,

They have Team Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) headed by Nagoshi (he was so close to Suzuki back in AM2) along the current SEGA-AM2 (VF, Miku, Ghost Squad, etc...) plus Yu is still an adviser to SEGA,

So he can remain a key role to next Shenmue...

Let's say now that E3 has come and is gone, it's about time for SEGA to decide what console and when, from now on it's gonna be interesting, and I am sure the Shenmue nation won't stop posting on SEGA's social media until they finally do it. :)

My advice to SEGA is:

Don't wait anymore, get that next gen AM2 or Yakuza engine running along team Yakuza making assets and even re-using assets from Yakuza series along whatever is left from Shenmue III Dreamcast (I am sure, there's a none finished Shenmue 3 DC some where, if not what is Niao Sun video?) plus Yu Suzuki and YS NET can supervise along bringing their social media tools (from Shenmue City) to a Shenmue Complete exprience.

GIVE US SHENMUE BACK BY HANDS OF SUZUKI, we will do our best to support Shenmue "TRUST US"

We can make lots of fan art, videos, musics, even fan-made games or write and spread the word about Shenmue more!

GO FOR IT SEGA

"Just make sure, you'll release it on a console that people will actually BUY" and gonna last 5+ years for sure.

Peace,
Alimn

Edit:

I just added some more stuff to this post along adding everything I posted here to the first post of the topic.

I will keep updating the first one and this one if I remember or want to add anything else.

Here's also another mini update that I added to first post (A master link to my edited/named pics from GDC11 & 13)

Kowloon Walled City recreated as Arcade in Japan

http://sociorocketnewsen.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/ka14.jpg

http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/06/12/kawasakis-digital-kowloon-walled-city/

Every city has its bad parts and areas to avoid, but there’s no denying that these less favorable areas give even the poshest urban centers something to talk about. While Kowloon Walled City no longer exists, its fixture in popular imagination will likely persist for decades, if not centuries.

In 1987, the city housed 33,000 people in 6.5 acres and was largely lawless, though informal social structures naturally emerged among the citizens. The city, as you might expect, has been the inspiration and setting for many fictional works, from books to movies to video games. And, now, it’s provided inspiration for a unique business venture in Japan.

That’s right, Kowloon Walled City now exists in Japan as a game center! Which, when you think about it, is either incredibly fitting or incredibly inappropriate. We’re still not sure which.

The game center, which is called “Digital Kowloon City,” is located in Kawasaki City, just south of Tokyo. Built in the spirit of the original Kowloon Walled City, the game center’s exterior and interior both look horribly rusted and uncared for.

Re: Iwao's Scroll | Welcome Edition

Thanks Peter. Yama and I spent a lot of time thinking about ways to set up new features for the site and we ultimately decided that the scroll was the way to go in terms of being able to talk about a wide variety of subjects.

On a side note, I encourage everybody to go and check out Andrew's work which we profiled in the scroll and to visit his page for his upcoming project, Ryo's Footsteps 2 . His hard work and dedication to the series is nothing short of commendable.

Cool idea. But why "hazure"?

I wanted to have something involved with the Tomato Mart be a part of that particular section and I thought using 'hazure' would be interesting. While receiving the hazure card in the Shenmue's raffle means you don't win anything, it still means that you made some sort of effort in order to draw a ticket to begin with. The same goes with the award that is within our scroll feature; you don't win anything tangible but you are nonetheless recognized for performing/creating something valuable.

Hope everybody enjoys the feature and hopefully it can lead to some lively and creative discussion moving forward.

Re: XBox One

If MS annouced Shenmue 3 as a xbone exclusive, that would be the greatest turn around and come back in console history. I am convinced that if MS announce Shenmue 3 they will win the generation, and garner parades of adoring and forgiving fans lining the streets to embrace the launch of xbone. If sacrificing every right and piece of self respect I have is the price I have to pay for Shenmue, I will gladly kiss MS's feet. But Blue Dragon 2 I can live without.

Re: XBox One

Not buying the console is your choice, but the belief that boycotting the Xbox One will make any difference in the industry is misguided at best.
One person "boycotting" Xbox One (or in other words, voting with their wallet for another console they prefer) won't change the industry. But if enough people make that individual choice, then of course it will change the industry. What's the point in trying to maintain publisher relations and impose tighter restrictions on users if it's losing you customers? There comes a point where the trade-off isn't worth it. Will we reach that point? It remains to be seen. But to say it can't make any difference is a depressingly defeatist attitude to take, not just in something "as trivial as entertainment" but in any aspect of life.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts (Read OP Before Posting)

As good as Generations was, I'll always have a special place in my nostalgic heart for Adventure. I like Adventure 2 as well, but 1 just feels special to me, spent so much time on that game. I honestly feel just as nostalgic for Adventure 1 as I do for Mario 64, even though it was rather flawed.

If what he is saying is real, then it is a real shame someone to embitter a fan like this guy (that is "shu72843").
I don't know who that is but got thanked for something. Also said I almost insulted him, yet still thanked me for welcoming him. This had to be a couple years ago or more, likely before Yama took over. The juex poll sounds vaguely familiar.Hard to understand what he is saying the English is so bad but guess it's not his first language. Really not happy how I used to be. Just a very non social person in a position that requires social skills and have a few mental hang-ups and went power mad. Just was a bad mix. Also sorta sounds like he has not been to SD in a while. Giorgio can you tell him SD is under new management? Maybe can coax him to come back. Maybe I will sign up and talk to him. We need more Shenmue fans not less.

EDIT I replied and sent him a PM. Seems other forums not treated him well either.

EDIT #2 Giorgio he accepted an apology. Now if those other forums would apologize to him. I am guessing his bad English is why he has been attacked on many forums. Shame. Seems like an ok guy.I hope this now means he will try SD again.

Re: David Cage Talks Storytelling with Ryan Payton and Yu Su

He's been tired of people asking him for years now, can't really blame him. Shenmue is his masterpiece and his curse, and it haunts him everywhere he goes. Just because he's tired of people asking him, it doesn't mean he doesn't still want to make it. he's probably just tired of people asking questions he has no answer for except the usual set of automated answers he has in stock.

Re: should SEGA die if it meant continuing shenmue?

Obviously I wouldn't wish unemployment on every member of staff, so that kind of weights the argument on a practical level. But hypothetically, if that were taken out of the equation, then I would gladly throw Sega under the bus for the future of Shenmue. Other IPs would be picked up by interested companies too, so it wouldn't be the end of everything else Sega created - in fact Nintendo picking up Sonic would probably be the best thing to happen to that franchise since the '90s.

The Sega that I grew up with died a long time ago, so I've no sentimental attachment to the failing company that bears its name today. If they couldn't give me Shenmue 3 and someone else wanted to, then they'd just be getting in the way.

Why does everyone say Quick "Time" Event?

Well this is bugging me for years and I recently thought about it again. I just had to bring this up now.

We all know how Shenmue revolutionized games in almost every way when it came out and the QTEs were one of the things it made popular. They were around before but it was Shenmue that called them QTE like everybody does now.

But when people use the full name rather then the acronym the always seem to say "Quick Time Event" but Shenmue always clearly calls them "Quick Time r Event". When and why did everybody, even Shenmue fans started to drop the r in Timer? This really annoys me sometimes as even official sites like Wikipedia call them "Quick Time Event" right next to the fact that Yu Suzuki coined the term with Shenmue.

If you think about it "Quick Timer Event" also makes alot more sense. It implies that there is an event that is running on a really short timer, like a countdown of 3 seconds whereas "Quick Time Event" makes me to think of a promotion for Apples video programm.

Re: Segabit's shenmue III links

You both forget that Yu Suzuki once said he would go so far and relocate his family if the right conditions are met for a third game.

JM: So, back to your plans for the future. I don't know if you've heard, but [Resident Evil creator] Shinji Mikami's studio, Tango, was recently acquired by Bethesda parent company, ZeniMax. Would you ever consider working with a Western publisher if you could get the funding to make Shenmue 3?

YS: That depends on the terms of negotiations. If we're given the freedom to make what we want, it doesn't matter where the company is from. I would take my family and move to the States.

Clearly he is at a crossroads with Shenmue 3, where he just can't rely on Sega to completely fund the game. Seeing how Segabits will always have a biased "Pro-Sega" stance, it's understandable why they prefer it to be done all in-house at Sega, preferably with the original team AM2.

Ryo & Lan Di in DOA5U? and our next plans!

Can this be a good step for future of the series PLUS NEXT PLANS:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BOUuCp1CEAAyQBu.jpg

DOA5U is coming soon! Hayashi (Director of DOA) has stated several times that he likes Ryo from SEGA-AM2's Shenmue too, so far they have Akira, Pai, Sarah and Jacky from SEGA-AM2's Virtua Fighter coming to DOA5U, let them know what we want by replaying @shimbori_x who works for Team Ninja and asked on Jun 30th that "People require us tons of costumes and any other things. We can't make all. If you choice one, which one do you want the best? これ英語になってるかな?"
Here is his twitter, team ninja's twitter & ETC, let them know we want this. :)))))

https://twitter.com/shimbori_x
https://twitter.com/TeamNINJAStudio
https://www.facebook.com/tecmoeurope?ref=stream
(Any other TECMO KOEI or Team Ninja social media account, but TeamNinjaStudio's main twitter should be enough)

If you look closely at the pic you'll see that, yes they still have two+maybe more open spots left. "LETS ACT NOW OR THEY WON'T HAVE TIME TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN"

ON THE other side of things:

Few days ago finally I pitched an idea regarding lets hit on SEGA OF JAPAN's social media too (NOT ONLY US)
/I've breifly dicussed this on FB via some Shenmue500K members and Zimming.

"Just wanna say, lets post@them whenever they post something related or can relate to Shenmue, otherwise
SEGA of Japan might block or bane or change their privacy policies"

So here are some links for you, let's let them have our words (Shenmue HD, Shenmue III, Shenmue Online, ETC)

Welcome, Here I gonna list them ALL in another form:

Re: Shenmue 1080p

This thread really makes me feel that a campaign to get a Shenmue HD release would benefit from people knowing how amazing these images look. I bet a lot of Shenmue fans would never have even seen Shenmue images in 1080i before, and be teased with what the game could look like.

Re: Yu Suzuki At Monaco Anime Game Show

I am so sorry to have you kept waiting like that dudes ! (I feel very uncomfortable)
In march 2013, I was home moving. And when all was ready, my old computer abandoned me, fully broken.
I took time to buy a baddass new computer (I assembled myself, part by part) and fills of bad luck : it makes arbitrarily shutdowns (impossible to run my film editing software in those conditions), I've wasted time searching for solutions (hardware + software) but that beats me...
I finally borrowed an old friend's computer and I managed to edit the interview.
Yesterday, I've just finished the english dubs in order to upload the video on Ziming's youtube account at the same time with the french version. It won't take much time before you can see it (a matter of day).

I've really thought to Shenmue fans while editing the video.
Hope you will enjoy.
