Really enjoyed it as usual, picked up Blood Curse and am about halfway through, I only ever play it with friends over though, not because I'm a scaredy cat or anything!

Re: Things that pissed you off

^I take it you know that "we" put Saddam into power as well?

Work is really pissing me off, I gave serious thoughts to just walking out today. They're gonna pick on me early on tomorrow, too. If I still feel so annoyed about it, then the things I'll say could well end up getting me sacked. Probably for the best. I used to be a nice, easy going (but quite opinionated about things, still) sort of person, so if the place has changed me so much (I'm a total dick quite a lot more often now), then I am better off outta there. Finding another one is hard though, and the grass isn't always greener either...

Reminds me of the Treamcast.

Playing Tomb Raider right now. Very very impressed. This game is amazing. And im saying this with all seriousness.. Its better then Uncharted. And thats saying alot from me. I love Uncharted, but this game makes it look like a cartoon in comparison. Tomb Raider does so many things right that anything I could find to be negative right now would be nit picking on my part.
I recomend everyone play this game who enjoyed any of the Uncharted games or any third person action games in general.

PoliceNauts for Sega Saturn - English Version

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BevWB86UAkg
Policenauts is without a doubt one of the greatest cinematic adventure games ever released. Despite being such a timeless title with a huge following, Konami's multi-console release never ventured out of Japan. The final port of Policenauts, the more complete Sega Saturn version, is finally being fan translated.

Policenauts? You're not alone in wondering what this elusive title might be. In 1994 Hideo Kojima wrote and directed an adventure game featuring a hard science fiction storyline for Konami, which was initially released for the PC-9821 computer platform in 1994. The game focuses around our protagonist, Jonathan Ingram, a detective who travels to the stars into Earth's space colony in an attempt investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding his ex-wife's murder and her new husband's disappearance.

The arrival of this Sega Saturn translation, however, is not the first time Policenauts has been made accessible to English speaking audiences. Game hackers successfully converted all of the in-game dialogue in the PlayStation 1 port to English, releasing their work on Hideo Kojima's 46th birthday. While this feat may have been unofficial, Konami supposedly worked on an official English translation of the Sega Saturn version many years ago, only to scrap development following various complications.

So why exactly should you care about this fan translation patch - especially when there is already a PlayStation 1 version available? The Sega Saturn port of Policenauts features several additional scenes, a slightly modified story and light gun support - effectively making the Sega Saturn edition of the game the definitive one.

The patch to convert the Sega Saturn port's in-game dialogue to English is still in development, however, the team behind this release recently demonstrated their work at the Spanish retro gaming convention, RetroMadrid.

Not sure if this has been discussed already but I know it would interest a couple of you.

Re: Gaming Thoughts Of The Day 2.0

I just found out the official development kit for the original Playstation was leaked online a few years ago. I remember desperately wanting a Net Yaroze (a kind of watered down development kit) back in the day but the massive price tag made it totally unobtainable.

I know now that I wouldn't have been able to make anything because I'm not artistic and don't know how to program anything but the idea of creating a Playstation era type of game still seems really awesome.

"The stories of addicts in the Hunts Point neighborhood, the poorest in all of New York City. I post people's stories as they tell them to me.

What I am hoping to do, by allowing my subjects to share their dreams and burdens with the viewer and by photographing them with respect, is to show that everyone, regardless of their station in life, is as valid as anyone else.

Its easy to ignore others. By not looking, by not talking to them, we can fall into constructing our own narrative that affirms our limited world view."

Saw some of the pictures on Imgur today and looked out the gallery, it's really sad but interesting and definitely worth checking out.

This definitely, this has always puzzled me. I lurk a lot of communities and it's an opinion that I've seen thrown out on a regular basis. Aside from an actual common interest or point of view, conformity, to some degree is part of a normal social skill-set and I've never particularly cared for those unable to accept it.

Brian Banks Signs With NFL After Being Cleared of Rape

http://i.imgur.com/prfdzSj.jpg

⋅  CBS News.
⋅  CNN.
⋅  ESPN.
This was on my feed this morning and while I don't know anything about American football I'm troubled by the false rape allegation and the apparent lack of consequences for the person responsible.

I can't find a respectable source covering this side of the story the following is from the UK Daily Mail in 2012, you have been warned.

Banks was exonerated last week after his accuser, Wanetta Gibson, admitted she had made up the whole story of sexual assault ten years ago and had been reluctant to come forward because of a large settlement she received from the school district.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that Gibson also had been worried it would affect her relationship with her two children, now aged four and five.

Banks' exoneration came after Gibson sent him a friend request on Facebook when he left prison in February of 2011 with a tag. In a message, she explained she wanted to 'let bygones be bygones'.

Banks's lawyer, Justin Brooks, told KPCC that Gibson and Banks met and she was caught on video saying there there had been no kidnap and no rape, and would help him clear his record.

Yet she refused to repeat the story to prosecutors as she feared she would have to return a $1.5million payment she won after her mother brought a suit against Long Beach Schools.

She was quoted as telling Banks: 'I will go through with helping you but it's like at the same time all that money they gave us, I mean gave me, I don't want to have to pay it back.'

The 26-year-old has said he does not plan to pursue legal action against his accuser, and Los Angeles prosecutors have said it is unlikely Gibson will be charged with making false accusations, saying it would be a tough case to prove.

Banks was jailed after Gibson accused him of rape in 2002, when he was just 16 and being heavily recruited by a number of colleges, including USC, which had offered him a full scholarship.

He was on the way to the school office to talk about his college applications when he bumped into Gibson, a fellow student, and they went to a stairwell to make out, Brooks told KPCC. He pointed out that they did not have intercourse.

He explained that Banks said something to upset Gibson and they parted on bad terms. She later accused him of kidnapping her, dragging her across the school and raping her in the stairwell.

Investigators tested her but found no physical evidence of rape, Brooks said. Banks maintained they had not had sex and all sexual contact had been consensual.

Yet his then lawyer encouraged the promising student to plead no contest to the kidnap and rape charges, warning Banks he could get 41 years to life in prison if convicted.

Expecting he would serve just 18 months instead, he followed the advice and pleaded no contest. He was in prison for six years.

While there, his case was taken on by Brooks, a lawyer who head the California Innocence Project.

'Brian’s story is so compelling, and his case for innocence so clear, we knew we had to take this on,' said Justin Brooks. 'Brian lost a huge part of his life when he was unjustly sent to prison.'
It seems like for one reason or another no action can be taken against Gibson but what do you guys think? Should she be in jail? Should anyone who makes that kind of false accusation face a prison sentence? Or do you believe that this would make it tougher for legitimate cases to be taken seriously?

Re: What movie are you watching right now?

Gross Pointe Blank.
Still one of my favorites.
Like top five, easily. One of the most re-watchable movies I've ever had the pleasure of watching in excess of fifteen times. Seriously, I'm still shocked to this day that it doesn't have more of a cult fanbase than it does.
The damn thing is just as quotable as any of Tarantino's best, and the story is easy to follow but filled to the brim with subtle backstory references and new things to notice with repeated viewings.
I'm generally apprehensive to label anything as the "best" in any way, shape, or form, but fuck it: in my eyes, this is easily one of the best movies of the 90s.

One of my favorite scenes in the entire history of film (the uploader cut it a little short, but oh well):

One of my favourite fight scenes of any movie, it's well choreographed, stylised but not over the top and has an absolutely banging soundtrack.

Finally re-bought Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. Would have been nice if the PSP remake would have been localized, but oh well. This'll have to do.
The Us and Japanese versions of Gungriffon were the first games I got for my new Saturn. Then I bought Virtual-On.
And I just had to snatch up a copy of Legend of Oasis as quickly as I could. Even though I haven't beaten it, I absolutely love Beyond Oasis for the Genesis, so the sequel/prequel to that was one of the top priorities on my list of Saturn games I need to get. Probably play both of those back-to-back as soon as I'm done with my current RPG exploit.
