Re: Recreation of shenmue 2

I think the best way to recreate shenmue is to start modeling from scratch, and using hi-res textures, ripped models sucks tbh

dino's models are a good start imo, choncy did a great job by converting them to 3ds, i downloaded only the yamanose model sadly :|

here is a screenshot of the yamanose model and a map i extracted recently, looks bad because my on-board graphic card doesn't support anti-aliasing nor anisotropic filtering

thats not fair, and untrue. JSR doesn't have multiplayer and the levels are smaller.

Re: Recreation of shenmue 2

I actually had an Idea of making it online and implementing the mini games from shenmue like lucky hit and working and some other things I haven't thought of yet, I could put a money system in place and by gaining money at lucky hit and other mini games you could buy collectables like capsule toys, maybe I could give each player an apartment in kowloon and they could buy things to decorate it, I'm not sure if I have the knowledge to code such a game but it's one of my Ideas, would be pretty cool if the whole dojo could meet up in shenmue 2 and partake in duck races and other mini games

Wow, that would be amazing.

If this were to become a reality, I will include it in my upcoming Linux distro.

OH man, you could make a community Shenmue Online.

I am taking a game design course in college next semester. If you need help, I can ask some people about network programming and such.

Re: Sleeping Dogs

AnimeGamer is playing Xenoblade Chronicles and is like 100+ hours in and not done. So.....

120 hours into that game now, yes, and thinking another 30-50 hours will be necessary for completion. I do kind of purchase games on how long they are too. Brand new games on PS3 are usually $60, and I have made a personal goal since the launch of FFXIII to NOT buy a new game on launch, only exceptions would probably be to get collectors/limited editions, course thats only for $60 games, i'll pay $50 for a new Wii game. I know, I can be a stingy cheap bastard sometimes, but as much as I love games, I still like to save money cause I dont have much of it.

Shenmue II Music: Ryo's Arrival to Guilin (Dreamcast)

Ok it turns out this is not a unused track after all. This track is used in the beginning of the Guilin chapter for the Dreamcast version. I labeled this "unused" because I was using the Xbox port as a reference. If you listen and compare both versions it's obvious they are not the same.

Re: Bronies

well that was true 5-10 years ago, but now it's so common that they don't really care at all, nearly every teenager/young men owns a game console, if she starts saying she doesn't want a guy who plays video games then she is putting herself in to a hell of a quest

Not just that, but ever since the Wii and Rockband came out there've been some games that appeal to alot more people and are used for parties and things like that. Remember a few years ago we'd get drunk and say "WANNA PLAY ROCKBAND?!" "YEEAH!".

Saying that is now like saying "I don't like listening to music" and "I don't like watching movies/tv".

Re: You crazy sexy SOBS What is on your minds!

@segata true, but I was saying it more out of amusement than spite, the name made me laugh because it's so stereotypically American

I don't even technically "count" as american, there were a lot of people born in the states like me that got tortured during the late 90s FALN hunts. I take no offense when making fun of americans because apparently Caribs don't count. I am a New Yorker though, generally I don't call it that I just call it 1TC but most people don't know what I'm talking about when i say that. I think "Freedom tower" is a shit name as well.
ah it's not that, it's just the way you answered didn't seem like you saw I was joking, a lot of things get misinterpreted on forums due to the lack of tone, couldn't find anything about the FALN hunts, what happened there?

Oh never heard of them? I'll put some links, if you want to know more but theres a socialist party in Puerto Rico called the FALN. They sometimes do business with a gang called the Netas. Since the Netas are mostly political prisoners and assorted Caribs, back in the 90s after a string of bombings, the US government went looking for terrorists in areas of Puerto Rico densely populated with said Caribs. Basically the kinda of places where they don't know what Puerto Rico is, and just call the island Borinquen. The place I'm from Cebrada Cruz or "El Cuco"(The Boogyman) is one such place. During this time, they just snatched people up and drove them over to a base, some people came back, some didn't, but anyone they caught by themselves got a beating, myself included.

Re: 2012 Olympics

This thread has basically tuned into this scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYermKUnDJk

I think Carmain probably used "gain the amount of medals" in the negative sense, as in it's the reason we didn't get as many as USA. Neo just misinterpreted this sentence as it was quite easy to do. Shall we just forget everything that went after this point, and bury the hatchet?

I also like 13 and 13-2. Great games imo. Not the best in the series ofcourse but certainly not the worst. I loved the art style, graphics, characters and most of all, battle system. I would welcome an evolution of that system in a heart beat for 15.

Re: Yakuza series

Yakuza 5 is rejigging its combat system to include dance battles and brawls that blend more seamlessly with the rest of the game.

These details emerged from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via Andriasang). When playing as teenage wannabe pop sensation Haruka, players will engage in dance offs against rivals in a rhythm action game set to five genres: hip hop, house, idol, jazz and rock. Successful moves will build up a gauge that when full can be used to unleash special Heat moves.

Upon the end of each dance battle she'll be judged by spectators. If she wins, her "expression power" rises, helping her level up.

As for the more familiar bone-crunching brawls, you'll have to battle right on the spot with an encountered foe, as opposed to the staid mechanics of yesteryear that slowly transitioned into a closed off arena for battles. Purportedly enemy AI and animations have been spruced up, too.

Re: Who is Online?

A fair few of them probably are bots but as I understand it our "Who is online"is not limited to real time activity.

If I had to guess I would say it displays all users over a time period of 1 hour or so which would make it possible for a single guest to be counted more than once. I could be wrong about that last thing though.
unless if they have a dynamic IP I don't think it would count them more than once, I know we have lots of lurkers though as every time someone signs up or an old member comes posts after being away for ages always starts with "I've been lurking" but you're probably right for it not being real time, I know when I sign out I'm noted as online for pretty long after, we probably have over 100 bots as well considering how they love this place or maybe they're just trying to unite with their master kiba

EDIT: ah I stand mistaken, as soon as I sign out I am counted as offline, I guess they fixed that

Coby had been "lurking" since 2004

Wrath of the Lich King Collector's Edition, I actually have one of these already but for £3 I picked it up as a double. It comes with everything; the art book, mouse mat, making of DVD, soundtrack on CD, and the trading cards, one of which was an unused redeemable prize in-game.

Bought this for £3, it's 100% working (in my experience Nintendo hardware is pretty bulletproof) and I'm sure the game is probably worth more than that alone.

Re: Studying Abroad in London

Becks is bloody everywhere, I find. It's hard to get away from the geez. He's either on some chatshow or at some event that makes it's way onto the news, or is sticking his groin in my face with all those underwear adverts. He also seems to have a "collaboration range" with about 100 different clothing manufacturer's. Oh, and he also has some scent they were recently advertising on TV. I literally can't escape him. It's starting to make me a bit mad, and I sometimes have a "Becks breakdown" in which I start hallucinating everyone to all have David Beckham's face.

Re: Random Thoughts! v2.0

But like the Gulf War, it's not the final word. Now, allow me shock and awe you. The problem with gay marriage is that it's being forced on communities that want to define marriage themselves, as has always been the right of free people: to make their society the way they want. Even people who support gay marriage attempt to organize displays of democratic force to impress the world, thereby undermining their cause, if it turns out a majority of people still oppose it. Then they get a sympathetic judge to overrule the majority. Well, obviously that just breeds more resentment, and rightly so. That has been the history of this stupid, false, and divisive battle since the beginning, at least in the United States. And now our unwise leaders want to make it worse by trying to force such decisions from the top, and enforce one way of life throughout all the states and territories. Only naive people could want this - people who think you can force what you think is right on people who believe it to be wrong. Look at the long-term destruction and hatred caused by the last U.S. Civil War. That's still not over. Was it worth it? Well, keeping the Union together was worth it, and the South needlessly rebelled, as Lincoln would not have freed the slaves because of all the reasons I just mentioned. Imagine a different world that realized that not every group of people would ever agree on everything, nonetheless respected the right of groups to run things the way they want, and all sides respect territories in which anyone could live who they'd like, among the kind of people they prefer. That is sanity. That could have been a very different history where slaves could have been freed without bloodshed, the South wouldn't have been devastated, and millions of their happy descendants would be alive today. The alternative was and is forcing billions of people who fundamentally disagree with each other to obey the precepts of only one group. That is wrong and it's impossible. Nobody ought to face an inquisition to justify their beliefs in logical terms, when it is obvious that no moral beliefs are rational. Almost every value any person holds dear is completely irrational. That doesn't make them wrong, anymore than not being able to logically explain why revenge is wrong would necessarily make certain kinds of murder legal in modern Western nations. In fact, I'd wager most people think revenge is right in most circumstances. But if you try to explain something as simple as why you love your mother, you'll probably miserably fail in the attempt, or utter some obvious facts or common sentiments that do not logically explain why you do what you do. So, stop pretending that it's rational to support this or that social movement, and anyone who can't explain their opposition is an irrational moron. People shouldn't have to explain what they feel, and if they're wrong, you shouldn't force them to change, as if you know better what's right. Oh, you can think you've won by getting a mere law changed on paper, but no one has any power over the hearts of individuals, but individuals themselves. And if you're seriously naive enough to think that humanity or the world can be perfected, you've entirely missed the point of reality. If nature hasn't taught you the truth already, let me enlighten you: this life, this universe, is the place where nobody gets what they want. This is the place where we survive what we don't want. The whole of nature is fundamentally ordered to this test. So stop being a pussy, and leave your fellow bastards alone. Life is too fragile and short, and experience too effective a teacher, to indulge in the fantasy that just one more law, one more social protest, will magically transform this infinite space into your own personal paradise - a sparkling new world where the countless billions who are just like you will suddenly and inextricably harmonize with all your hopes and aspirations like a flashmob. Get real. Talk about the Himalayan summit of self-centeredness. Only hardcore intense spoiled brats think this way, which is why you usually only find such wankery among the richest nations.

Can't forget to type in black!
