Hmmm, at least they didn't like Mechassault, I don't know why everyone likes that game.

YEah, mechassault is just another FPS to me. Famitsu's site is here:

http://www.famitsu.com/

I also occasionally go to the Japanese bookstore in my neighbor hood to look at magazines. There were actually a lot more games that got rated, but they are not sold here in the USA. I usually agree with their ratings most of the time. The major ones I disagree is Zelda WW and RE 1 Remake. Those got 40/40 and 39/40. I think Zelda was a good game, but not perfect.....I think 38 or 39 would be more like it. And with RE, a 36 is more like it. But those are just my opinions. I totally agree that Zelda OOT and Soul Calibur deserve perfect scores and that Metroid Prime well deserves a 32/40. MP is so overrated in the USA IMO.

Enter the Matrix is just everywhere. The game is more of a promotional game for the movie.

28/40!?!? What the hell?

Postby Shodan » Sun Jun 15, 2003 5:11 am

Exactly. Why the hell did Famitsu give such a low score for KoF'02??

Zelda: tWW fully deserved 40/40, though a 39 for the RE remake was going a bit too far... And Metroid Prime should have got much higher than 32. It is a bit overated in the US and its not quite as good as Halo, but its still an amazing comeback after 8 long years and one of the best games for any current-gen console.

I played it a little and it was very weird, and I didn't really like it all that much...I don't know why...maybe it's the shitty GCN controller.

Metroid Prime controls.

Postby Shodan » Sun Jun 15, 2003 5:12 pm

Well aside from some difficulty in turning, which I find rather annoying, the controls are nigh on perfect. MP isn't a FPS, its a first person adventure. MP has similarities to FPS but its not always supposed to play like one. So while a two stick setup would have made looking easier, it wouldn't have been the Metroid the developers wanted. The most incredible achievement of MP is how Retro Studios have managed to update a 2D series into full 3D and not losing any of the classic Metroid feel, but all at the same time create an amazingly immersive experience unlike anything that's gone before.
