I love that game, especially the sequel. On the other end of the spectrum is SFIII: Third Strike which in my opinion is the best Street Fighter game ever made, though they all have their own merits.

My fave fighting game though is Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, hopefully to be replaced by VF5 as soon as it is released on the 360.

Tekken 3 will remain my personal favourite. I also like Dark Ressurection for the PSP - A near perfect port.

Daigo and Justin Wong would like a word with you...

Yeah to be honest, Clint doesn't know what he's tlaking about. SFIII is more technical than all the Tekkens put together. In fact, the only 3D fighting game which squares up to 2D's finest in terms of depth is Virtua Fighter. The rest are just pretty.

Street Fighter III is my favourite.

Ah good times. I love Rugal here because his suit is fucking pimp. He's even better in SNK2. SNK vs Capcom Chaos (SVC Chaos) is fucking awesome too, just because it has Violent Ken and Orochi Iori. Too bad Shin Mr Karate, Shin Akuma and Athena are broken as hell. And by broken as hell I mean that they shouldn't even be playable, and I'm one that loves playing broken characters, just because. They're just overdone. Just like Cyber Akuma in the Saturn version Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter...

Top man :D
Yeah, Virtua Fighter and Fighting Vipers are probably my favourite fighters of all time (though it's a shame that Vipers died, after only two games, I'd love to see it resurrected one day). But it really annoyed me in VF4 when they ditched the sloping/multi level arenas from VF3. Purists of the game no doubt argue it makes the game more balanced and fair when the arenas are just flat and square, but couldn't they have compromised and included both kinds? It really just felt like a step backwards to me. Also, the camera is so much more "rigid" in VF4 and VF5. While arguably this is only an aesthetic thing, it sort of removes the "feel" of the older games :(
But in any case, I can't wait to get my hands on VF5 for 360.
Mortal Kombat's another favourite, I just hope they can breathe new life into it for the next installment...

Amen, brother.

Fighting Vipers was amazing, I loved it.

I used to enjoy using Picky and being able to smash your opponent with the skateboard 8)

Powerstone is without a doubt the best fighting game ever. The 2D fighting style which the likes of DOA 4 and VF5 offer are going to be dead within a few years unless some serious innovation is introduced.

Hmmm doubt it, Super Street Fighter II Turbo is still one of the most popular fighters. People play fighting games because of their complexity, the more complex and twitchy the better. This is why all the top popular fighters (tourneywise) are games which require massive amounts of frame count/timing/all that other junk.

Why do people have to quote me 4 times?

Fair enough, 2D fighters ARE technical. Jeez.

I just couldn't get into 2D fighters, at all, sadly.

I found the combat systems on the Capcom, SNK titles very hard to get used to.
