Sega Posts Strong Quarterly Sales

Postby ShadowTech » Wed Jul 23, 2003 2:35 pm

Sega's future is looking up, according to the publisher's latest quarterly financial report. During the quarter from April to June, Sega's sales totaled 1.45 million units worldwide, exceeding expectations by 19% on the strength of successful Japanese titles like Initial D and Let's Make A Pro Baseball Team 3.
Sega reaffirmed that it is on its way to reaching its goal of 9.25 million units sold in the fiscal year ending next March. The company expects reasonably strong performance from its sports titles this fall, as well as the American and European releases of Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. President Hisao Oguchi also predicted that the company will double its annual sales to as many as 20 million units over the coming five years, receiving a boost from the eventual debut of next-generation consoles.
