DMC [Reboot]

I'm sorry but DMC seems slow and clunky compared to Bayonetta.

It doesn't. I actually prefer DMC3's system over Bayo's.

Bayo is surprisingly shallow after the initial "WOW!" factor dies. I platinumed it trophy-wise and I got pure plats in the hardest chapter. It's too abusable with a lot of glitches, with the Killgore being the most (in)famous one.

I still love DMC more but the gameplay is def an evolved form of DMC. It's far from shallow with shit load of combo's.

That's what I thought after the first 10 hours of playing Bayo, but it's bullshit.

I took the time and effort to study all of those long combo lists and guess what? There's just a handful of combos repeated for various weapon pairings. The gameplay isn't evolved at all despite looking more evolved. There's the addition of bullet time mechanics called Witch Time, but it breaks the game on the high level of play because it makes everything too easy. That's why the highest difficulty turns Witch Time off.

Bayo's not evolved in any way from the DMC formula. It's just redesigned to fit the new "witch agenda", but they clearly had too little time because there's a ton of bugs, mainly related to broken animation frames.

Ninja Theory's radical reboot shows style, substance and plenty of swagger.

^Impressions would be nice.

If the art was more up my alley maybe, just maybe I could stomach much of my other concerns (beyond Dante ofcourse...).

Only had a quick go but looks really nice and plays well but hey it appears most DMC fans on the net have already made up their mind on this.

Wouldn't most Shenmue fans have made up their minds as well if this exact same game were being branded as the new Shenmue, and this new "Dante" were supposed to be Ryo?
I don't think it's all too unreasonable. The change is almost that extreme.

Looking at the game from a less-biased point of view, judging it by its merits, citing its positives and negatives like any level-headed gamer should... that's all well and good, and should absolutely be the goal of any review that comes out for the game. It can come out with 8's and 9's across the board if it deserves it. There's nothing wrong with that.
But there's also nothing wrong with fans of the old games not being happy with the changes that have been made.
Much in the way that the new Hitman might be downright excellent but has enough changes in place to understandably upset fans to a degree, so too could it be the case with this one.

My point was some seem to have completely written the game off before even playing a demo.

As for Ryo, If he suddenly had a gun and started dropping F bombs then yes that would piss people off but this still to me plays like DMC of old.
But i can see some getting bored of the one liners and it looks like it will have a fair bit of platforming. The combat feels good from the demo.

Played the demo. Everything about it seems like it would make a compotent action game. But it's not a Devil May Cry game.

I'll try it. I'm pretty finely tuned when it comes to action games because I like em so much. If I bitch or compliment the gameplay it won't be from the standpoint of someone who knows whats going on behind the scenes it'll be as someone who beat Ninja Gaiden Black without healing.
