Wow, graphics-wise, it's pretty impressive. Any details on the storyline and gameplay you can provide?

Well OL can come out of the corner now and dry those tears and cure his pain with a dose of Vespera.

PSP will get a fighting game?....ugh what is with the RPG spin off fighting games...anyway.

Wii owners knew they had another Tales game coming with the code name Tales of "mothership" now known as Tales of Graces.
Makes me happy spread the love of Tales.

Fucking April 1st...
Can't take any of this game news seriously for another few days.
Good news if its true, though. Vesperia was one of the main reasons I wanted a 360. It'll be easier just to get a PS3 version.

Games like this remind be how over time, even an rpg buff like me can get sick of the same old throwback rpg's of yesterday. This is why there need to be more games in this genre that break away into more action oriented gameplay.

^^I can't tell if that was a crack at Vesperia, but in case you didn't know, the Tales series is all about more action oriented gameplay. The battle system is real time, not turn-based. So you should have no problem with it.

I know it's real-time. I've played the series. I'ts not just the battle system that makes the game. I'm starting to get tired of the simplistic running around, talking and battling that is so prevalent in old RPG's. What Shenmue started should be further implemented. Mass Effect had the right idea. If only it wasn't 10 hours. I mean, RPG's are always going to give you great stories and excellent cut scenes. I'm just getting tired of the old formula. I've played so many of them. Maybe that's why.

Not even close.

I'm shocked at you Ryudo. How can you be on this site and involved with Shenmue for this long and not know that it was intended to change the face of RPG's and it did? One of the First advertisements for the First game has in big letters, "RPG HAS CHANGED!" Have you forgotten or are you kidding around.

Yes I remember the push but Shenmue still at it's core is more of a sandbox Point an click adventure than anything else.

Isn't it all about perception. the problem with RPG's in the past which is why it garnered a limited amount of fans, was that even though they are great games, they were percieved as being nothing other than "walk around, fight, level up, talk" games. In recent times, games like Mass Effect and Shenmue draw off of the original concept of RPG's while adding more player involvement. That's why they are so crucial to the progress of games. I would never compare Shenmue to Secret of Monkey Island! LOL

How can you be a Global Moderator on one of the biggest Fan sites for Shenmue and not see the deeper picture that Sega was painting with Shenmue for the future of RPG's?

Shenmue is not an RPG.
It's an adventure game. The only reason for the RPG push in Shenmue's advertising was because RPGs are by a wide margin the biggest gaming genre in Japan. If you look at the advertising for almost any game in Japan, they always laud the games as RPGs. Even things like Devil May Cry were touted as RPG-like because of the ability to improve Dante's move list. And DMC is quite obviously not an RPG.
It's just an attempt to sell more copies.

The ONLY RPG-like feature in Shenmue is the ability to improve the effectiveness of each particular move by monotonously performing it over and over again. Besides that? The game is an action-adventure, with an emphasis on the adventure part.
And yes, Shenmue has far more in common with Monkey Island than it does with Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Elder Scrolls, or Fallout.

Don't question someone's ability to see a "deeper picture" when it's you who is perceiving things incorrectly.
