I know what aesthetics means lol Yes Skyrim isn't extremely pleasing to the eye but it's so much more than that. The gameplay and the content in the game is so vast the aesthetics don't even matter. It's so damn immersive, before you know it it's 5am in the morning you've ignored all your calls and not done any homework.
You feel like you're a part of that world. The graphics isn't even that great they toned it down quite a bit to make room for more content and gameplay options. Also the the gameplay has imroved vastly moving, jumping, fighting is alot more fluid and nowhere near as robotic as Oblivion or Morrowind. I'm just saying give it a chance because you're missing out dude.

Don't even have a system to play it on but maybe one day.
But I'm sorry and sound like an asshole at this point but I can't get Xenoblade out of my head. Biggest RPG world EVER. And my god is it amazing. It did that same ting to me. Played many 12-14 hour sessions. Not done that since Skies of Arcadia.

I dunno, I just never found the 3d Elder Scrolls games to really work aesthetically.

Two Examples:

Arkham city is incredibly atmospheric and immersive, and I find the game to be a whole hell of a lot brighter then ESM/O/S because despite taking place at night (and half the time underground) it has more colors that are brighter. Its still moody and dark not only in look and feel but also in content, and yet its much brighter and colorful when compared to Skyrim especially.

Dark Souls is a game with a similar look, and again is much much much brighter and more colorful, and its even more immersive and harsh than ES, and has its own sense of overwhelming areas that are incredibly large.

I'm just saying muting the colors isn't helping the immersion, which is a shame because its a missed opportunity. The game is very immersive within itself, to have the actual visual style always so blatantly staring you in the face by not quite matching up hurts it overall.

0ren what build are you using?

Well I got bashed earlier on FB cause I said Skyrim had bland colors when someone had commented about how pretty the game was and I got "There he goes shittin on peoples happiness again", and I was like WTF? REALLY? and made a small rant about it, I dont understand why me having a differing opinion automatically means im trying to bring someone else down

I think that's the best way to describe the difference between games like Skyrim and games like AC. Both are gloomy and dark, but the few colors they carefully dotted around does help make AC more interesting and atmospheric rather than cold and boring.

No game, for sometime now, has had to make me stop and have to tear myself away from the controller as much as Skyrim has. So good.

I find nothing wrong with the artistic design. Character models? Who gives a fuck? So long as the game is as deep and engaging as this, such things are trivial to me.

It adds or takes away the experience for people. If Visuals and design and music were "trivial" then why are we not still playing Atari?

Quite a lot of people "give a fuck'. also no one is bashing the character models, rather the overall aesthetics and how it hurts the immersion (which truthfully it does)

Thats a matter of opinion thought, if you don't see it and we do, well thats just how it is.

I even said in my response to the guy that Skyrim looks more appealing than the last 2 elder scrolls games, but treking through the hills and valleys kinda turns me off still :/ the combat kinda reminds me of Fable though and that is probably enough of a plus for me to actually look into it when a GOTY edition drops.

Then don't play Xenoblade. That's most of the game

My friends are playing Skyrim and they think it looks fine. They also think Arkham City looks amazing.

I think half of that is cause people like us played alot of games in the past so we're used to things being vibrant and have more variety.

Completely possible, I'm playing Dragon Age and i think the game is incredibly ugly (well it uses 256x256 textures which is comparatively tiny, there are ps2 game thats used bigger ones) but that ain't stopped me from putting in 60 hours.
