Nintendos mindset was "we're richer than everyone else, so we dont have to try"

Same here, to be honest. And my Dreamcast, too. There are still so many games for each of them that I have yet to play, and if I buy them used, it won't run me too much money at all. Compare that to the newer systems, where games go for higher prices, give you fewer hours of play time, and just generally aren't as appealing, and there's not really a whole lot to be excited about. The one big advantage the current systems have is online play, but even that's not enough to hold my interest for too long. There has to be more than that. But until developers start focusing more on substance and less on style, and until they start creating more unique, more original titles (hard to do when the cost of putting together a game is so enormous, I know, which is why the Wii, with its smaller dev costs, is the perfect solution), I'm going to continue to feel underwhelmed.

I'm sure things will pick up later on, as the user bases for each console continue to grow and developers and publishers are able to bring in more money as a result, thus allowing for more freedom to experiment with new ideas, but right now, there isn't a whole lot that gets me going. Of course, a lot of that feeling is probably due to my being jaded and realizing that there's no possible way we'll see as many JRPGs this time around. :P

As for Nintendo, I don't know what's going on with them at this point. I mean, aside from Blue, I'm probably one of the biggest Nintendo fans at the Dojo, and even I'm annoyed by their recent strings of ineptness. There have been way too many "What the fuck?" moments from them the past little while. It's like they're not even trying anymore and instead are coasting by, content with the fact that with so many Wiis having been sold, whatever they release will be eaten up without a second thought, regardless of what the hell it is. They need to hurry and get back into their N64 and GameCube mindset, when their games were king, and when they had to make amazing, quality stuff or else have sales stall as a result. But without that fear of knowing you're playing catch up, I guess you lose a bit of that drive?

Pikmin. Game Boy-style Pokemon. Zelda. Kirby (Adventure/Crystal Shards sort of thing). EarthBound. Mario (2D, sidescrolling). RPGs. Where are they? I don't mind Wii Fit and Wii Music and all the other casual-friendly stuff, but I want more of the traditional things that I love, too. Hopefully, Monolith Soft will get Disaster out soon. Until then, why doesn't Nintendo try and scoop up some more outside studios and turn them into internal ones? Lord knows they need the help.

More third-party support is also essential. Right now there's basically none. Zak & Wiki was supposed to have been good, and nabbing Fatal Frame IV was a great sign. Now, they just need more developers to follow suit, and not with the usual shovelware or rushed, incomplete products, but actual triple-A titles, titles that will make you want to head out and buy a Wii, titles that will make you happy of the fact that you already do own one.

 Its fake but funny.

And not the best time to talk about the 360/ps3 faliure rate when the last PS3 update bricked a load of consoles.
The first year for the 360 was a joke but its pretty much sorted now, 9/10 its a launch console that dies when someone posts about it on a forum.

But anyways, did the start of the trailer make anyone else wish for a new Panzer Dragoon? And i love the one YEAH!!! when from the crowd when you first see the womens face

I pretty much only play my older consoles nowadays - I had absolutely tons of xbox360 games at one point, but eventually lost all interest in them and got rid of the lot bar one or two titles i haven't completed yet.

quite strange to see all these ancient games heaving on the shelf with about three lonely looking 360 games stuck at the bottom somewhere.

as far as all the other stuff goes, i have absolutely no loyalty to any console anymore - i just go where the games i want take me.

LOL, its that same guy who read the brawl rant. That guy had me laughing out loud at the Wii thing.

Amen, JP. Amen.

To be honest, I think Nintendo has always given the "fuck you" to everyone out there for a long time. A few good things aside, they really let some of their long time buyers down. If it wasn't for No More Heroes or the fact Sonic was in Brawl, I would've never got a Wii. I might've gotten a PS3 or 360 instead. Maybe I could've afforded my surfboard...

In spite of all this, i'm still getting it for the PS3. It's more my console of choice at the moment. Fable 2 and possibly Too Human are the only reasons why i'm interested in the 360, i've played all the other games.

I'm disappointed by the lack of Alan Wake. It was practically the only game I was looking forward to actually hearing something about. Oh well.

FFXIII is not "PS3 exclusive" in Japan, in the sense that you people are saying it. Square-Enix simply aren't bothering to release the 360 version in Japan, because about four Japanese gamers own a 360. There's no "PS3-only in Japan" exclusivity contract or anything. Evidently, there never was any sort of exclusivity deal for FFXIII. Square just started developing it for PS3 in good faith, and then as the last couple years rolled by, it occured to them that they need to put it on 360, as well.

Well, what I heard was taht they release the PS3 version in Japan, then when the US and Europe get FFXIII they release the 360 version in Japan. So its a timed exclusive.

I don't know how accurate that is though
