Comes out the 30th.
I'm going to order mine later as I see a nice deal with a few games and pro controller.

Then these people so obsessed with specs and want top of the line then won't admit it's now next gen and want to cling to the 360 & PS3...you know the systems with 6 year old tech. Then they say well they were top of the line in 2005! Yeah well my 386 PC from the 80's was top of the line back then also. S0 was my N64 in 1996 and Xbox in 2001. So ?
First and most importantly, the Wii U is quite repair-friendly, with a casing that's easy to remove… although some connections are soldered, not plugged. Considering that Nintendo's consoles can sometimes be difficult to fix at home, this is good news. That said, you will have to pull twelve screws to get the casing off, so it's not quite a home PC in that respect.
Inside, among the surprises:
- There are two wireless controllers (in the technical sense, not the gaming sense). One is your standard 802.11 b/g/n that basically everything has now, and the other is a dedicated 802.11n designed solely to communicate with the GamePad. This explains a lot about how the GamePad can have a relatively long range, although it's far from perfect.
- The Wii U has a peak bandwidth of 12.8 GB a second, courtesy of 2 GB of DDR3 SDRAM. The original Wii could pull 5.6 GB a second. This is not, theoretically, as fast as an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3, but a lot depends on how the system uses its eDRAM, hence the 'catch' alluded to in our headline.
- The Wii U consumes between 28 and 32 watts when playing, which is far less than the supplied power brick can cough up.
In short, there's some interesting engineering decisions made by Nintendo, but until we get a more detailed look, we're not going to know, exactly, how it ranks against the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Dare say it will be an update like the US what with the release in 11 days.

No console launches perfectly smoothly, and the Wii U is no exception. Here's what day-one buyers of the Wii U have been complaining about.
- First and foremost, users are seriously annoyed at the 5GB system update that the console immediately starts uploading and may take hours to actually install. There's no way to cancel it once it starts, and if something goes wrong, it may brick your console.
- Rumors are going around that the system will occasionally go into a hard lock that can only be fixed by yanking the plug. It seems to be largely anecdotal, so far, but threads have been popping up on gaming websites with consistency.
- The system storage, as we told you, leaves something to be desired.
- Nintendo Network IDs can not be ported between consoles. If your Wii U gets trashed… well… too bad.
- The GamePad will only last 3 to 4 hours before needing to be recharged.
- Some users have reported needing to configure the Wii U manually in order to get wireless access.
- Minors will have to have their parents cough up fifty cents to register on Nintendo Network. Realistically, though, this one is likely to prevent kids from registering without the consent of parents.
- Gamers with older TVs are reporting some fairly serious overscan problems, that is, they can't see the edges of the game when playing.
- And the Miiverse had the expected day-one crash.
