Shenmue On GBA

Postby Joey Bassist Dude » Tue Jul 15, 2003 6:13 pm

I was thinking..., Would'nt a Shenmue game on GBA be great, A perfect little story for it could be the boat sidestory (between Yokosuka and Aberdeen), A 2D RPG on GBA SP. Iv already started a story board incase any developers fancy my ideas :P ! PLUS, GBA titles always sell so well in Japan and would make the Sega-Am2 team loads of money for upcoming console Shenmue titles :D ;)

I know it's burning my eyes. I don't think Shenmue would be good on GBA. You wouldn't a good understanding of the storyline. You need a more powerful system get a full immersive experience while playing the game. It wouldn't be enjoyable on small screen either.

I think it's a good idea.

It wouldn't be anything like the console games, but it would be a nice way of explaining the story on the boat.

I could only see it working as a turn based combat RPG mind.

I think its a terrible idea.U have only 16-bit graphics on gba and ull have to make it in 2D,which would ruin the game,u wnat the best graphics possble.Plus I wouldnt want it in nintendos hands, anyway. This is a worse idea than it being cell-shaded.(no offense) :D

Graphics aren't everything.

And what's wrong with cel-shading?

The chapter that took place on the boat was very short.

Take it from someone who owns and has finished the game, it really suits the game.

Games don't have to have ultra realistic, dark and moody graphics all the time you know..... sometimes they can be, shock horror, fun.....

First, graphics aren't the most important aspect of a game... but bad graphics are a big turn off. A game can still be good and not have the best graphics.

Next, Shenmue for GBA doesn't really sound that bad of an idea... but I would be afraid if they did develop it and it sucked it would look bad on the entire series. I think Shenmue is such a cool game because it's realistic... you can not make a very realistic game on the GBA.

i was thinking for more of a money spinning idea and the boat story seemed perfect for it and considering the sales gba are getting in japan it would probably work, but i didnt stop to think about the good shenmue name being ruined if the game did turn out to be a 'flop', and yeah my storyboards were all done in a turnbased fighting engine, and the shenmue 0 game sounds interesting altough i havnt completed that on my p.c yet... im kinda confused where to go n what to do so havnt played it for a while!

Maybe it would work out better if they waited for the psp or a more advanced game boy (more advanced than the game boy advance...how can this be :?: ) This way they could do something 3d, instead of having looking at Ryo from the side
