Since all Final Fantasy games are 50% on PSN I decided that I'm going to sell my PS1 copies and buy them on PSN. I prefer having discs but it makes sense money wise. Also with the extra money I can buy more games in the sale. So I just got:

FFI
FFII
FFIV Complete Collection
FFVI
FFVII
FFVIII
FFIX
FF Tactics War of The Lions
FF Dissidia 012

All that for just over £40.

Also got FFV in PS+ awhile back so should have a nice FF folder.

Maaaaan, if you could play the two spin offs, then you are in for a right treat with the original Tactics, which is on a whole different plane of existence. One of my favourite games. The story and tactical gameplay is just...unparalleled. I put in around 70 hours in my first playthrough and 50 in my second and I could play that game all year round, such an addictive game. Masterpiece.

I'd cautiously say that it's my favourite storyline in a game ever next to a couple of others. I'm hyping the game up too much, sorry...but really, it's good. Really good. Best game ever, good. Play it.

Well I really enjoyed the GBA game but I just couldn't get into the DS one. No idea why it just wasn't grabbing me.

I've only played a few hours of both, but the GBA one was more linear than the DS one which was...a mob hunting game, basically. So they're entirely different games in their design right off the bat. I must be the only person the planet who liked both though, since fans of one tend to hate the other one.

The original Tactics is linear and story focused throughout interspersed with random battles that happen when you move between locations on the world map. It also has the Job System from V in it which means there's tons of customisation on offer. Did you play much of FFXII? A certain character from that game shows up in the original Tactics and is really powerful, heck one character from FFVII shows up too and also joins your party (well, two do, sort of, you'll see).

Yeah I see the guy from XII in the screenshot on the PSN store when I bought it. Well I thought it was him buy now I'm sure.

The linear part shouldn't bother me after all I did like XIII and X is my second favorite in the series.

Just make sure that you do as much of the optional stuff as you can, since Balthier and Cloud are pretty well hidden. You can always PM me if you get stuck on something or post on here about it.

Speaking of the sale, I might pick up Dissidia myself now that it's so cheap, it's the only one on the list that I don't have. Is 3 on sale too?

3 and diss were said to not be part of the sale. At least in the US

Both Dissidia games are on there but not III. I'd just go for the second Dissidia game since you unlock the story mode from the first when you beat the main game but it also includes all the new features from the second game. It's a prequel so it's not like you won't understand the story.

Even playing both sequentially and having Tetsuya Nomura explain it to you personally you won't understand the story.

Why do some developer have this need to explain why characters from different worlds/universe/time or series in some story. Fuck that. Just put the characters in and have fun. 99% people don;t give a shit about story in a fighting game. It's bloatware.

^I agree there. I don't play Marvel vs Capcom and expect an answer as to why Wolverine is fighting Captain Commando, it's just a neat crossover. Dissidia 2 it is, then. I look forward to playing as Gabranth and knocking the stupid smirk off Tidus's face.
