I was almost tempted by a Japanese swordfighting game today, but as I'd never heard of it before I thought I should at least Google it on my phone and see what kind of scores it had received.

One of the first hits was a review from OXM. Now if any source would be inclined to paper over the cracks and present a bad Xbox 360 game in the best possible light (without lying), it would be the Official Xbox Magazine. So I went in expecting an overgenerous score that would then have to be tempered by other sources.

Here's the summary of their 1/5 review:

Like:
  • It loads

Dislike:
  • Incredibly frustrating
  • No tutorial
  • Horrendous graphics
  • It loads

And that's on a site whose MO is to make you buy more games. It turns out that by Metacritic standards they actually underrated it... slightly.

Anyone here played this one?

It's not triple-A, so everyone hated it. But if you like slashing people with samurai swords, it's not bad.
Not a great game by any means, but it's not the abomination they make it out to be. Should be cheap nowadays anyway; anywhere under ten bucks is probably really fair.

Played the demo. Ok and worth a try cheap.

It was part of a 2-for-£10 selection in GAME (so about $7.60 each). I can't remember which other title I was interested in, so I'll have to pop back in and see if I'm still tempted.

got it for 5£ on ebay, I heard it had an interesting story but the game itself can be pretty boring, also the city is huge but empty so I always held out in case of buyers remorse but at this price I can't really regret anything

At first play you might like it but replaying cases ruined it for me. Too much hand holding and yeah the world is empty apart from golden film reels to collect.

Just ordered Crush3D for £6, mainly to relieve the buyer's remorse of owning a 3DS since launch and only three games.

Be careful Henry, there are "mild themes" in this game. Which I assume to mean elevator music. Stay alert!

The game is basically giving me Philips CD-i nostalgia so far. So it's uh...not very good, at all. But the puzzles are alright. So yeah, mild describes this game quite well, actually.
