This is fantastic news! All seven main entries on one system.

Kiwami 2 came out in Japan in December and will come to the West in August, so we should expect the same kind of release schedule for Yaluza 3. If it will come out in Japan in August, some time around April next year might be your best bet for the Western PS4 release of Yakuza 3.

As they are simply remasters, I will be skipping out.

Just waiting for Shin and 7, at this point.

I wouldnt be so fast about Yakuza 3 at the very least, as it will likely contain all the other missions and content that was cut out of the original western release, course it may be the original one too.

That being said, this is GRAND news, especially for me who was explaining not that long ago I am more or less screwed on ever playing 5 because of the way it was released here, but low and behold, an announcement for Y3-5 on PS4 and we were just talking about this just a few weeks ago, CALLED IT.

At any rate we should wait for a western announcement although it does seem inevitable, I wonder which version of Y3 they may give us? Hopefully thats not a burden, or maybe they just re localize all 3 of these games again and start with a fresh translation, that could remedy it.

Its been getting Shenmue and Yakuza crazy lately huh?

Yakuza 3 was cut due to time restraints and the idea certain parts of the game wouldn't "resonate" with Western audiences. I don't think these reasons would be of concern to Atlus given how they've handled the games since Zero.

I'd love to play Yakuza 3 again on PS4. It means I'd have come full circle with the series, as I started with 3. Shame it wouldn't be a Kiwami remake, but if it makes it over, day one from me..

Yeah, it's always day-1 for me (even if I end up taking forever to actually get around to playing one of them), but I dunno... I'm not really betting on these ones coming over. Maybe if they just kind of "import" the translation work from their original releases, though obviously Y3 would take a little more work than that.
They previously released HD remasters of Y1 and 2 on PS3, and those never made it over here. Granted, the series is more popular in the west now than it was back then, so the situation may have changed. But being that they're just re-releases of old games in a series that is, at best, only moderately popular in the grand scheme of things at the moment... I'm just not betting on it.
I'll be happy if they do get localized, of course, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

That being said, I really hope they do more for the graphics on these than just smoothing edges and making them run at 60 frames. Sotenbori in Y5, for example, is fucking fugly (yes, I'm aware I just said "fucking fucking ugly") because of the lighting, and how washed-out and sun-drenched the whole place is. It's friggin harsh as hell on the eyes in some places. They need to cut back on the bloom or... something.
I mean...

...yowch. I have to squint to look at that.
It's just weird, because the same city on Yakuza Zero looks beautiful. All the daytime scenes in Y0 do.
So hopefully they can manage that for these remasters.

Will definitely get a PS4 now that the entire (mainline) series is coming to that console (and it doesn't look like it'll come to PC any time soon).

Is it worth getting a Pro if I mainly plan to just play Yakuza on a 1080p TV? I'll wait until the series is all out to see if they do a cool bundle but Pros don't look like they're dropping in price.

Yeah, since it doesnt seem like these will be releasing as a collection, and will be release individually, that might play into whether or not they come over, BUT I am starting to think that may not even be an issue because dont look now, but Yakuza 0 has been out for over a year and it hasnt hit the $19.99 bargain bin yet, its going for 39.99 which means that there has been no need to put it on clearance or that its still not selling, and why shouldnt it still be selling when players still need time to play 0, kiwami 1, and prepare for 2 to come out, makes sense.

No idea how many copies its sold, but I have seen Y0 pop up in some surpsising lists for example: Playstation Access Had it as one of "7 PlayStation Exclusives Every PS4 Owner Loves to Show Off" (ill link below, great YT channel btw) along side God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, and Persona 5, that made me raise an eye brow that Yakuza may have busted into main stream a bit which does sound unheard of for us long time fans. Also I saw alot of people going out of their way to talk about Yakuza 6 around launch too.

Wait for the bit where Holly starts going off about how good the game is, its good shit and I know everyone will appreciate it and crack a smile.

I upgraded to Pro for Yakuza 6, and obviously future games using the Dragon engine.

It bothered me playing the Prologue on a base PS4 with the slow down and screen tears.

That's a GOOD thing ;)

I think they'd do the full localisation, however the cut content is literally the ask x ask minigame (or whatever its called), 12 substories (think we discussed this a couple of years ago, you and I lol and I got the total wrong) and the hostess club, so its not a significant amount to add.

I've beaten 3, 3 times now and I just don't have the time in my life, at this point, to go through another 70+ hours, getting trophies and completing things as fully as possible; ESPECIALLY for 4, which is my second-least favourite title in the series and is a chore for me to play. 5 I would love to play for a third time, but that's a 125+ hour game and, again, I just don't have the time, with wedding planning, work, charity events (for work) etc.

Thus, I'll be content with 7 and Shin, when they do release :)

I am either in bizzaro world or something, because the ONLY slowdown I experienced with 6, was the animation before the batting minigame. No screen tearing and its a stock, launch-day PS4.

Playing Kiwami 2, I had slowdown A BUNCH of times, but still no screen tearing, so I have no idea why I'm literally the only person on that planet that got away with it.

I remember noticing it quite a bit while playing the demo but can't remember seeing any while playing the game itself. I did have slowdown in both cases though.

Yeah, it appeared to be temperamental. Could also be that I played it 10 months after release, when all of the updates and patches/whatever were applied, whereas most people played it at launch, before the fixes.

When people refer to Yakuza 7 I think they're referring to the shin reboot SEGA announced.

It's great that Sega is remastering Y3-Y5, but the real win is if/when they announce a western release. That said, I'm not even sure I'd pick up all 3 games as I don't know that I'll have time to invest in 3 large games. Perhaps at most I'll pick up Yakuza 3.

Thanks for the help, guys, I was gonna buy a base PS4 from my manager but I'll wait until all the games come out and see if they do a bundle with a Pro (will also want a Pro for The Last Guardian as I hear that runs like crap on a base PS4).
