Ok, so i was wondering if anyone owns or has played this game? I know it got mediocre reviews, but I still want to give it a chance. From what I have herd, it is a mixture between heavy rain and splinter cell, but with rpg elements. If anyone has played this I would love some feedback. havnt seen it in any video stores so rental is out of the question. Sorta tossing up wether to buy this or splinter cell conviction

Its a pretty good PC style RPG that has a lot in conman with other Obsidian games of the past, sadly that also means a ton of bugs. To be honest its not so much Heavy Rain, more mass effect meets splinter cell then anything else.

I was thinking about buying it when the price dropped, the reviews reminded me of mass effect with a much more appealing story (I'm not much into that space scifi stuff)

For what I have heard it has some painfull bugs here and there, concerning the IA and other aspects of the game. It seems even a beta, to a point, and not a fully finished game.

Still, having said that, many praise, at the same time, some other, relevant elements of Alpha Protocol, like the story and the choices you can make (choices that are said to be actually interesting and meaning pretty different outcomes that deeply affect where the games leads you).

It's a matter of what you are expecting from the game, and if you can see life beyond it's rushed presentatation, I believe.

It's very good, actually. I have no idea what the other versions of the game was like, but I have the 360 version, and encountered two bugs in the entire game (when there was supposed loads according to reviews). It's supposed to be played like a stealth game, really. The story is good, dialogue is even better. It's Obsidian, they're very good writers.

Be warned though, it's very hard. You pretty much start off the game as a weakling, and build your way up from there. Incredibly underrated game. If you're looking for a shooting game though, look elsewhere, this is an Espionage RPG first and foremost.

I fail to see the sence in that Riku. Why would I ever want to smuggle drugs? I dont do drugs, just weed.

Ladies and gentlemen, Sega is shelving Alpha Protocol, at least on the publishing end.

Due to poor sales and poorer reviews (from the Mass Effect crowd, no doubt), Sega will not be publishing any sequel to Alpha Protocol.

Alpha Protocol was definitely a great game with a very interestingly woven (and variable) plot.

There were quite a few bugs, notably the AI being slightly clunky and the cover system being glitchy in some specific areas.

At its core though is a great game, so I urge anyone who's willing to give it their time a fair shake. Be forewarned, however, that it can be frustratingly hard until you improve your stats and get better equipment than the starter stuff.
