Was never big on Samus bulky suit but did like the partly corrupt version in MP3...looks better in game form with the lights and when it reflects light and such.



Not sure if cancled games are ok but always liked this mysterious character from Raven Blade.

Agree it is a good game, but i find his character design quite dull, other then a strange set or armour, hes just a fag with a mullet.

Yes. Cecil and Kains original designs are quite cool. FFIV would have to be my second favorite FF game. I cant beleive you havnt played it Ryudo, you should be ashamed of yourself. I reccomend picking up the DS reboot, you should be able to pick it up cheap (in aus on ebay its $15 Buy it now), just ignore the voice acting as sometimes its quite dreadfull.

Well she is awfully pale.

But I definitely agree with Pyramid Head, though. I've always thought that design was amazing. The idea of it is something that could have so easily come out as cheesy or dumb, but they managed to turn it into one of the creepiest designs in anything, ever.
Brilliant.

Next one's not quite as great, but I still love it:

Faith - Mirror's Edge



I love this one because
a.) her clothing was designed to be entirely functional, with very little done solely to add "flash" to it. It's a completely realistic design for someone who'll be partaking in the kind of physicality the game is based around.
And
b.) Faith is an Asian female in a western-made game, and they actually didn't oversexualize the way she looks. Almost any other developer (even an Asian one) would have given her big boobs and a baby face, and the clothing probably would have been more revealing. Instead, DICE designed her to be a realistic Asian woman, with a slightly angular face and a slender athletic body. Rather than looking like a model or movie star, she looks like the kind of real Asian woman you could meet in normal life. Commendable as hell, if you ask me. DICE deserve major credit for that.

Samus just plain sucks, IMO. There's nothing distinctive about it, just some tech-robot design. (No offense Ryudo, your other ones are cool)

Well, no need to get too critical just yet. This is the kind of topic that could go on for pages and pages, and we're only on the second one so far. Plenty more characters to come.
Besides, you've only posted a single design so far, and it was a pretty average one at that.
Just keep in mind it's all about favorites, so you're probably not going to love every single one that gets posted.

Ulala - Persona 2



I still haven't played Persona 2.
Regardless, it's stuff like this that always makes me want to play it. Kazuma Kaneko is an amazing artist and designer, and it seems like he always has crazy ideas for characters that somehow don't come off as completely ridiculous, though they might have in the hands of any other designer. I love his work to death, and of all the designs in Persona 2, I think this is my favorite. It's a little simpler than other ones, but it conveys so much personality just by looking at it.

Keldy - Dawn of Mana



Another game I actually have yet to play, though I do own it. Every time I look at the character art for it, I get the urge to play it (I'll probably get around to it soon).
I just love the sort of earthy-but-colorful storybook style of it. It's almost got a kind of Native American vibe to it, in a way. The Mana series has always had a pretty unique design sense like this, and it definitely appeals to the slightly more innocent side of my tastes.

I have it and while the music ok just think the CD is very interesting looking how it was all 100% transparent except the middle had actual CD with the music.
