Nothing special, just a demo playthrough with a short intro at the beginning. Not my usual kind of video, I guess.
Certain aspects of the quality irk me a bit (like the pixel-y From Software Logo, and the lighter black border around the gameplay), but eh, whatever. Maybe having made a quick video like this, it'll help in getting me back in the saddle of making more.

TBH I kinda see why it didn't. It just seems kinda Meh. The VA to me is annoying as can be.
It's trying to be over the top but in this case IMO it just doesn't work and while we often forgive things that make no sense this to me well even to absurd to accept. I don't think it would have sold very well at all.

Just to be clear, when I say that I think it would have been a hit, I mean a hit like in the way that Otogi was a hit, or the way Crimson Sea was a hit. Not massive mainstream success, but they certainly developed a very enthusiastic fan following, and sold well enough that each game's respective sequels also got localized.

As for the VA, I don't honestly see it as being much worse than Devil May Cry, for example. I certainly don't think it's trying too hard; so much of the dialogue is actually very much like the kind of retardedly-cheesy stuff the Japanese often write in their own language. It's just been converted into english, and as such comes off as even more ridiculous.

A few problem here and there, but I guess it's okay. Starting to notice my speech patterns when I read from a script, and it's starting to irritate me when I hear it, so I might try to change it a little next video I make.
Still, like I said a few days ago, I'm likely the only person to ever upload footage of the "machinegun blood spray" glitch to the internet, so I guess the video has some value because of that (stick around to the end of the video).

It was a pretty easy one to do, since it's a fighting game.
Need more footage? Just do another match.
So much easier than recording from an action or adventure game, where you can't always jump right in to the exact stuff you want to show.

But, either way, time for a much more difficult one I think. Probably an RPG.

Working on it now. Roughly halfway through the game I'm doing (30-something hours in a JRPG), halfway through writing the narration, and I have a rough cut of the intro edited together already. It's a lot of work because of the size of the game itself, so I don't know how long it'll take to finish. Hopefully it'll all fit into a 15 minute runtime.
The fact that I'm also structuring it as a sort of "introduction" to a larger series of games is also adding some work to it. Making the writing a little more difficult.
