They should have really released this during the summer to get people caught up for the new game. I really want to get into the series it's just a shame the first game isn't included.

And yeah, an HD version of the first game for consoles would have been cool.
But to be fair, it really is quite a bit different in many respects from the rest of the series, so it's exclusion is kind of understandable. Still, it almost seems like IO just wants to foget about it for some reason.

Yeah its odd they seem to want to ignore it. I know Contracts has several missions from the game but a collection should include codename 47 as well. The PS2 collection left it out as well.

No, it's still canon. They just remade certain levels from it in Contracts. But I don't recall anything being retconned. 47's still a science experiment, still killed his maker. The story wasn't very intensive in the first game, but what little that was there is still relavent as far as I know. They even make a reference to the scientist that created him in Absolution.

Though, honestly, the missions they remade for Contracts were probably the highlights of it anyway. I was never a big fan of the Colombia (that's where the jungle missions were, right?) missions.
