Skies of Arcadia is awesome, but its turn based. Actually, turned based IS more awesome than not turned based. Whats wrong with you?

Can't really recommend any A-rpgs since I don't really have any interest in any.

You have a Xbox and you haven't played Fable yet? Yeah, well get that, actually get the Lost Chapters version, which adds some gameplay.

Some people recommended grandia 2, which is turn based, he said he'll check it out, so I thought I'd say SOA since, although I love Grandia 2, SOA is pretty much better in every aspect.
I can't really see how I could recommend Grandia 2 over SOA, but both are definitely awesome.

Fable's one of those games I was always planning to buy but never got around to it. Fortunately, I picked it up and thought it was pretty good.

BTW Grandia 2 for DC made me a believer in turnbased, it was a great game.

Skies of Arcadia was pretty good as well, I'd give it a 8.5/10.

Kingdom Hearts. If you can get over the fact it has Disney in it you will see what a brilliant game it is. But before you play the second you will need to play Kingdom Hearts on the GBA.

Sudeki on XBox is a pretty good Action RPG; the reviews of it were rather lukewarm, but it's fun enough while it lasts.

If you consider Shenmue as an Action RPG, then you'd probably think Beyond Good & Evil matches the description, too. It's more of an action-adventure, but it's great.

I thought it looked cool initially. But now that they've shown gameplay for it and have revealed the combat in it... I'm not so interested anymore. When I first saw the game, I thought it was all about exploration in an essentially abandoned world. Something like that sounds fucking excellent. But now they've shown that it has combat, and even further, the combat looks stiff and unsatisfying.
The cinema scenes look cool (nice cel-shading), but other than that... meh.

ugh... yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw that game play video, one cool thing that I thought was mabye the wii remote controls the flashlight, and you have to use it to look around? Maybe that might improve things a little bit? But other than that... DAMN it looked bland.

From the people who played said it was great.
Combat is not supposed to a much of a big deal,it's mostly exploration.

FYI GameCube had other great RPGs besides Skies of Arcadia :O, check out Tales of Symphonia, and Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins. All 3 class games. There are more RPGs than that, but those are the most notable (so yeah there still arent really many on GC)

For the love of all that is good, please don't dub this. Just sub it. I mean, I know the Wii fanbase is overcrowded with casual gamers, but try to think of the others just this once.

The Wii definitely needs some great RPGs. Hopefully they won't let the same thing happen as with the gamecube (by that, I mean having only one awesome RPG on it, and the fact that it was a dreamcast port).

Wii has dozens of RPGs being developed many out in 2009.
As well as dozens of other great strong 3rd party games that are aimed at hardcore, all you need to check is the media summit video and a topic I made which links to a VG charts site that lists upcoming games.
And more games keep being announced everyday now I can't keep up anymore...but thankfully VG chatz does try to keep it updated.
Just yesterday saw footage of Hudsons horror game "The Calling" one of the more creepy games seen in a while.
