There's an interview on Eurogamer about the reboot, why they're doing it, the controversy around it etc. Basically I can boil down the need for a series reboot in one quote:

"One of our goals for this game is to create something new and fresh that keeps the old fans but also catches new people, so that we can increase our overall appeal, our sales and our audience."

Well that's just about the last thing you want to hear isn't it?

This game makes me more hyped to play the first Devil May Cry. I remember how impressed I was with it when I played it round a mate's house all those years ago..

I know I have said much in this topic but admit to having very little actual gameplay with the PS2 titles, but in what I have tried and review and old previews and more recently youtube vids,it's already become a series i was very interested and thought Dante was awesome.
When I get a proper chance to play through the games Dante has a good chance to overthrow Travis as my fave game character.

Its not a very good interview, it accomplishes the opposite of what they'd like.

I am only assuming our own CR posted at joystiq that the director modled the new Dante after himself.
Wow another narcissistic douche.

Nah, the new "Dante" looks nothing like him.
They're both white guys with dark hair, but beyond that, nothing.

I can just imagine him posing infront of the people making the game yelling. 'Make him look like me a total badass'.

He needs to comb his hair.

IMO, you people should be less hung-up on what hair Dante has and just wait to see if the game is toss or not.

It's not about hair,it's about the awful looking character and the direction it's going as a whole.
When even the series creator hates it and Capcom admitted nearly 3 million sales they still want more, even though 3 million still said it's doing very well but they want 5 and think this new direction will satisfy new and old fans...well they have failed half of that so far.

So once again they are trying to fix what was not broke.

The final game will probably be better than DMC2 at least. That game was horrible AND made by japanese folk.

^ Not by Hideki Kamiya or the original development team though. I'm sure Ninja Theory will take a look at the series and what makes it a success but further to that, I really want them to pick on DMC2 the most and find out what made that such a badly recieved game i.e. low difficulty, little weapon variety, boss battles being too dull, environments being less detailed as it traded detail for open space and Dante being such a dull fuck compared to the trash talker in the original.
